Fun Ways to Use Serengeti Kit Papers
Hello Cocoa Daisy Fans,
We are sharing several fun designs created with our Serengeti kit papers. They are absolutely gorgeous and we wanted to highlight them in our memory keeping designs today. Let's begin with this cool hexagon design.
"Hi Daisy fans! Casie here to share how to use all the amazing patterned papers from this month's kits. Like all months, the Serengeti kit included so many amazing patterns. I wanted to showcase these in a travelers notebook layout. I prefer these TN layouts when I want to highlight one meaningful photo."
"To start, I gathered all the papers that contained black and white and variations of orange and pinks. On the left side the of layout I layers strips of paper behind the photo of my son (photo was edited using the app, Color Pop)."
"On the right side, I went wild with my hexagon punch! I punched hexagons from the same pattern papers I used on the left side to create a cohesive design."
"I love all the layers of patterns and how they tie together the color of the rock my son is holding along with the black and white of the photo. Here is a video walk through of how I created the design." We love Casie's color palette and her mix of patterned paper hexagons.
Our next layout is a 12x12 mixed media design by Jil featuring that features our Serengeti kit papers in grid design. "Grid designs work well for photos that together tell a story or contribute to a bigger picture. My layout is about the 100-day project I'm currently undertaking in little art journals."
"I repeated some of the papers in each of the four parts of my grid but also varied the papers to achieve both cohesiveness and an artsy, lively look. For the title block, I cut one paper on the diagonal so I could include the paper but also have a plainer background (I used the grid paper in the kit) for the title and journaling. The Freckled Fawn stickers from the Memory Keeping Classified kit made a perfect title."
"I just needed to add some number stickers, which I popped on one of the many great labels in the kit. I embellished each of my blocks with die cuts and stickers, and consistently went outside the grid with the black and white, handwritten die cuts (I love the fresh style of these!). I gave them a little dimension with pop dots."
"I included a few more die cuts and stickers on or near the photos, and framed my paint stir-sticks photo with washi (from the kit and my stash) on the upper left and a tab and sticker to the right. Because getting to 100 days involves a lot of counting, I used an older numbers stamp from my stash in the margins of the page."
"As you can see, I like grids and paper stacks that are a bit messy, and that look fits what I write about in my journaling: going wild with art experimentation! I love the Serengeti papers, which are so much fun to combine and layer!" Jil is a talented artist and we enjoy seeing the creative ways she documents her projects. You can use Jil's ideas to document school papers and drawings for your children, letters from ancestors or cherished family members, trophies and medals, and well, the list goes on and on!
Our final design is a traveler's notebook layout with circles from Melina. "I have used the Serengeti Pocket Memory Keeping Kit and the Main Planner Kit for my project today. I loved using the papers in different ways with this Simple Dori traveler's notebook layout."
"I started with two of the white grid pages in the booklet. I used my Big Shot die cutting machine and a circle die on 1/2” strips of the papers that I adhered to scrap white card stock."
"Here are those circles after cutting them out. I also cut some strips and another circle shape to highlight the cute flamingo and to dress up the page I would be journaling on."
"I backed my photo with some of the paper too. After adding my journaling, epoxy dots, phrase stickers and puffy alphas for my “hike” title, this layout was done."
"These Serengeti kits are so fun! I love the animal prints!" Melina's design is truly lovely and her circles draw us around the two page layout she created. That planner paper lining the right side of Melina's design is the perfect finishing touch.
