TN Tuesday: Title Tips & Techniques

TN Tuesday: Title Tips & Techniques
Hello Cocoa Daisy friends, Titles are an important component of memory keeping because they create a connection between the photos and story in our layouts. They can be big and bold covering the majority of the page, a short elegant sentence, complete quote or a single word. A title will pull the viewer into your story and if you aren't including journaling, it may be the story. We are sharing several different ways to create titles in your Simple Dori traveler's notebooks and you can use these ideas in other scrapbook mediums too. First we have an elegant design by Casie using the stamp sets from our Tulip Time kits. "Hi there Daisy fans, Casie here with a Simple Dori layout using the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. "I deconstructed the Dori and reassembled it using ring clips. On the left side, I created a title for the layout using the exclusive stamp set from the kit. I love the variety of larger capital block letters and script font. Above and below the stamping I added a floral die cut and geotag." "On the right side, I first created a background using the flower stamp in a vertical pattern covering the page completely. Behind the photo is a slip pocket for a journaling tag telling about my new favorite relaxing spot in the backyard. The layers of the tag include the post-it note from the planner kit along with washi strips from the Daisy weeks stickers." "Thank you for joining me this TN Tuesday! I look forward to seeing what you create using your travelers notebook and the Tulip Time kits." Next, we have two layouts with bold titles created by Evy. She notes, "Looking at my layouts you will have noticed that I often create titles using stamps and I wanted to share with you a little trick for error proof titles!" "You will only need vellum paper, a pad for multi-surface stamps (I use stazon), alphabet stamps to your taste and if you have a cutting mat or a striped or squared sheet that allows you to stamp straight. I combined various stamps to create the titles and stamped one word at a time by placing the vellum on the cutting mat. I am attaching photos of my steps because it is easier to do it than to explain it!" "When you have completed stamping the title just cut or tear the vellum to the desired size and paste it on your page. I use roller glue so you don't see anything! This method has 2 advantages: 1- if you are wrong you don't have to throw out the page but only the vellum. 2- you continue to see the background with a beautiful see through effect. Of course then you can add die cuts and stickers too. If, on the other hand, you already have some practice, you can stamp directly on the page and add a sheet of vellum above for a more mysterious effect. I hope you like my ideas and find ways to use our exclusive Cocoa Daisy stamps as well as the ones in your stash to create bold and beautiful titles in your TN!" As our DT has demonstrated, titles are impactful and set the stage for your memory keeping stories. They can be simple or intricate, delicate or full of punch. The important thing to remember is that titles are the entry point for viewers to your photos and story. We'd love to see what you are making with our kits and encourage you to share your memory keeping and planner layouts with us on the Cocoa Daisy Fans facebook page or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media. Be safe and well! ~Robin
