TN Tuesday: Fun with Kit Stickers and Rub Ons
Hello Cocoa Daisy friends and welcome to TN Tuesday! Today we are focusing on stickers and rub-ons from our recent kits which make wonderful embellishments, especially when you need to cut back on the bulk in your Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook. Rub ons last a long time and do not fade when properly applied which make them a popular tool in memory keeping. They are great for page titles, photo frames, quotes, borders, and journaling. Stickers are another way to add these same elements to your layouts. They come in a variety of backgrounds in the memory keeping sticker kit including clear, white and patterned. Let's explore our first DT layout. "Rachel here, and I’m sharing a traveler’s notebook layout that features my two favorite items from this month’s kits: Stickers and Rub-on’s For this spread, I am documenting an afternoon at the pool, all to ourselves! In a building with several hundred residents, this is a rare and needed its story told!" To begin, I started with rub-ons by choosing and cutting out the pieces (including the backing sheet) I planned to use in this spread. Once all the piece were cut, I spent time arranging them around the spread and choosing a few rub-on’s for my photos. I knew I wanted to do a cluster of words along the left side of the page. I made sure the larger words were scattered around the page, so that I could later add smaller phrase stickers in between the larger rub-ons. I don’t have any “tricks” for rub-ons, other than rubbing with even pressure in a consistent direction. It also helps to have a flat surface. I used a cutting mat under my pages to create the flat surface I needed. Because I had several photos and a pocket card to add to this page, I used the pocket for function but also to create a fun, interactive element. I want to make sure and mention that my photos are printed on matte photo paper, making it very easy to add rub-ons. But I also added a rub-on to the photo pocket (which had a slick surface) and it worked just fine! Lastly, I finished by pulling the phrase stickers and washi strips from the memory keeping sticker kit. I love that all the phrases, when put together, tell the story of this day!" Rachel's layout is stunning and we especially love her word collage and her pocket idea. She also created a process video which you can view by clicking here. Next lets see what Evy designed for this challenge. "I have to be honest, I love practically everything in every kit but there are things that drive me crazy: the alphas stickers and the rub-ons!" "Rub-ons are the thing I finish first because I really like the three-dimensional effect that they add to projects. In this case I combined the rub-ons with the stickers phrases and some diecuts created by me for the right page." I wanted the embellishments to be a caption and I really like this combination. On the left page I wanted a simple effect and I only used the alpha stickers for the title." "Below the photo is the story of this day, I love to keep my thoughts just for me." Wow! Evy's design is amazing and absolutely gorgeous! We love all the little details and the layers she created under her photo and on the opposite page. While we are sold out of most items for To the Sea, there are still a few great items to create similar TN layouts. In addition, we have sticker kits and other items from Backyard Blooms available to curate your own memory keeping mini kit. We'd love to see what you are making with our kits and encourage you to share with us on our private facebook group or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media. Have a wonderful week! ~Robin
