Hi my planner friends, Julie here today to walk through my Backyard Blooms with you. The colors for August are so vibrant and cheery, it just makes me happy to look at my planner! I've got my A5 Filofax Domino all set up and I'm ready for the first week of August. I'd like to take a few moments to show you what I've been working on. If you prefer, you can access my flip through video to see all the gorgeous colorful pages.
Above, you can see how the colorful blooms are just bursting out of my front pocket. I used a foldover paper from the Planner kit and created "pockets" with the yellow and white houndstooth paper from the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping kit. I chose to make paper pockets because the set up of my planner pockets didn't allow the overabundance of pocket cards and ephemera that I was trying to achieve.
The vibrant colors are so evident on every page, including my "washi" page. I typically don't use washi too much and so in an effort to make sure that I use some of it each month, I dedicate one of my dashboards to highlighting washi. This month, I made a pattern with my washi and overlayed the plastic "you got this" sentiment with a circle cut from one of the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping kit and a scalloped circle that I cut from white cardstock. It took a little extra time to think the design through, but now that it's done, I feel like it was definitely worth the effort.
For my notes divider, I cut a doily with my Silhouette Cameo and layer some typed words, floral die cuts and the "Good Feels" puffy sticker. The multicolor watercolor wash paper from the Planner kit is so beautiful, and the collection of flags from the memory keeping papers adds a cheerful touch at the top.
I don't typically use stamps very often in my planner but this month, I had to make an exception. Our stamps this month were designed by team member, Kellie Winnell, and they are so fun and have a modern feel to them. I took a cue from Kellie and tried her technique of repeating the stamp over and over to create a unique and quirky background. My stamping skills might not be at the top, but this repeated background was perfect for the shaker page that I created with results.
When I saw the stickers in the Planner Add On kit that looked like mailing stamps, I knew exactly how I wanted to use them. I created the "envelope" and printed it on cardstock. After putting down my "stamps", I wrapped the card with some leftover twine from the Up and Away kits from April of 2020 and created a little tag from paper that matched the background that says, "You've got Happy Mail". I added a couple of doilies from my stash for interest and a couple of die cuts that perfectly expressed how I feel about days that happy mail is arriving at my house. . . especially the happy mail that comes in that cute yellow and white box with polka dots!
My goals page this month is a revised version of a page that I created in my March planner. I utilized the notepad from the Planner kit to make sections to write down my goals for the month. I even used the "Take it one day at a time" quote from the notepad as well. After adding in a few die cuts and letters from the Memory Keeping Sticker kit, my goals page is just waiting for me to do the writing.
All in all, I'm just thrilled with the lovely artwork from Cocoa Daisy this month and I can't wait to move into this planner!
Thanks for walking through my new planner with me and I'll see you the next time!
Julie
