Taina Cortes: Repeated Shapes in 12x12 Layout
Hello crafty friends, Tai from @momentstomemories.bytai and I am here to walk you through how to make a 12x12 scrapbook layout using Silent Moon Collection. This collection has such beautiful colors and patterned papers and I wanted to show you how to included many of the papers in one layout.
First, decide on a repeated shape; for me I went with a hexagon. I had nesting dies in this shape from scrapbook.com and I used a few of the different sizes to show case each of the patterned papers. I even cut my photos into hexagons too. This layout design can work with circles, squares, heart and even triangles. The repeat shape creates cohesiveness and you can feature different patterned papers.
I used some of the papers from the Silent Moon 12x12 Scrapbooking Kit as mats for my photos and others were treated as embellishments. The illustrations of flowers were perfect for the embellishments. Once I had my general idea of where each element was placed I could then start adding the other details.
I used the foam titles and puffy alphas from the Silent Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit for a title, ‘Sister Memories’ and a few of the chipboard elements for other phrases on the layout. I absolutely love the rub ons from the same kit and added a few of the floral elements along side the hexagons. I added three wood veneers stars and a few of the enamel dots for added sparkle around the page. My last final touch was ink splatters in a navy color in the corners.
It turned out spectacular and I love all the blue tones across the page. The photos I scrapped are of my sister and I going to see Beyonce in concert this summer. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you give this design idea a try.
