Opposites Attract: Pastels + Black Accents

Opposites Attract: Pastels + Black Accents
Hello, friends! Opposites attract, don't you think? The Paperie Collection understands this with its soft pastels and bold, black accents.

Marsha Farris: Opposites Attract

The soft colors found in the Paperie Collection are just gorgeous. They pair so well with the black patterns and elements in the kits. For my project today, I'm sharing a Paperie Simple Dori spread documenting an afternoon adventure.

To begin the layout, I selected a variety of embellishments from the Paperie Traveler's Notebook Memory-Keeping Kit and Paperie Modern Memory-Keeping Kit, including chipboard stickers, rub-ons, die cuts, and puffy stickers, and added them in a column down the page. Next, I created my title by pairing a chipboard sticker with black puffy alpha stickers. I then used a patterned paper and scallop border punch from my stash to cut out a strip to include in the line of embellishments. I always love the Paperie Memory-Keeping Stamps, so I had to include a bit of stamping to complete the left page.

For the other side of the layout, I trimmed one of the Paperie Traveler's Notebook Memory-Keeping Kit cards with a black heart pattern to back my photo. I love how my black and white photo stands out against the black patterned design. Next, I used the scalloped border punch to cut out a portion of the paper. This mirrored the design from the opposite page. I then embellished the photo with die cut and chipboard pieces. I also added a watercolor heart rub-on to the chipboard element.

I added layering stickers from the Paperie Traveler's Notebook Memory-Keeping Kit above and below the photo. To complete the spread, I stamped my date onto one of the stickers with a roller date stamp from a previous kit and added an embossed puffy heart sticker. This was a fun layout to make, pairing black elements with the soft colors in the Paperie Collection. Check out my Instagram Reel to watch me create this spread!
