One Item, Three Ways: Washi and Pocket Cards!

One Item, Three Ways: Washi and Pocket Cards!
Hello, friends! Two things that might be piling up in your paper crafting stash are washi and pocket cards. Today, we are putting these two items to work to help you get the most out of these two incredibly versatile items! Jil is always finding new and different ways to add washi to her page! I love the washi tape in the Afternoon Tea Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, and I'm someone who uses washi all the time. On this notebook spread, I demonstrate three easy ways to use it.   First, place washi tape down on white cardstock in rows, and then run it through your die-cut machine. Here I used a bird metal die, but this patchwork tape would look amazing with many styles of dies. I chose a bird because I wanted to evoke summer since my page is about my love of free time in summer to read whatever I want. Second, use washi to tape down a photo or run it along the edge of a page. I do both on this spread. I like to layer it, so I grabbed a speckled tape from my stash that matches the speckled tip-in I added to the notebook for the left side of my spread, and I layered this washi it over the kit tape.   Third, washi is great for creating pull tabs on tags or hidden journaling. The little envelopes in the Afternoon Tea Collection are so delightful. I used one here, trimming off the side so I could insert a small tag. To indicate that the tag is to be pulled out to reveal the journaling, I made a simple tab with the washi tape, folding it over with a bit sticking out from the edge. This spread also features the Afternoon Tea Memory Keeping Stamp Sets along with some of the puffy stickers and enamel dots. The Afternoon Tea Collection is so charming! Pull out that washi now and have fun jazzing up your pages with it! Traci shares all the possbilities with pocket cards!
Oftentimes, people have a hard time using journaling cards outside the pocket and since we get so many lovely ones in the Afternoon Tea Modern Memory Keeping Kit, I thought I would show 3 techniques for using journaling cards on a layout!
1) I used the "designer" journal card that says "You'll find me in the garden" as a pocket! I love this technique because they're already the perfect size to tuck a photo or tag into.
2) I used an actual journal card as the "tag" inside the 3x4 pocket by trimming it down to 2.25 inches wide and adding a sticker pull tab from the Afternoon Tea Memory Keeping Sticker Kit to the top. It also doubles as a word bit over the top of my photo!
3) Lastly, I love that the Cocoa Daisy cards come with a variety of patterns as well! I used two of these to mat my photos because you get a broader range of patterns in the cards than you do the papers, AND you don't have to waste a full paper by cutting a small portion from it for a mat!
