Rachel Newman: Classic Vertical Planner Setup

There is something so satisfying about setting up a new month in your planner. There are a few things I do to keep the process fun and streamlined. To start, I punch my Classic Vertical Inserts for a discbound system. The customization and compactness can't be beaten!
With the pages punched, I get to work on my monthly spread. The monthly layout can be used for so many things. If you need some ideas, here are a few, thanks to the amazing members of the Cocoa Daisy Fans Facebook Group.
Items to add to your Monthly Spread:
Appointments for you and/or your family.
Big work/home/personal projects, deadlines, or meetings
Bill due dates
Reminders such as reveal day
Birthdays
Prominent social engagements.
Use icon stickers for specific items/tasks/reminders
Health tracking: hydration, exercise/steps, sleep, meals.
Tracking reading schedules
Cleaning rotation schedules/chores. The list can change each month/season
Gratitude: three things you are grateful for at the end of each day, or in the mornings.
Menu planning /tracking (what you actually had including eating out, delivery, etc.)
Memory Keeping: I use mine for a picture a day, so it's a simple memory keeper for each month.
For me, in this season of life, I use the monthly for the "known" items: birthdays, deadlines, bills, paydays, and events using the Dandelion Wishes Classic Sticker Kit. For items that spread over multiple days, I use the washi strips from to mark this. In the open space, I love to decorate! I used the decorative boxes on three of the days to create a visual triangle and embellished them with decorative stickers and stamps from the Dandelion Wishes Memory Keeping Stamps.
This habit tracker has officially found its home on my monthly spread! I can use one sticker to track something for the whole month, and this month, it is sunshine! March was pretty grey so I thought it would be fun to track the days I see the sun in April. This is always doubles as a walking tracker and I like to exercise outside when it's sunny.
The monthly spread is great to put stickers I don't always have room for in my weekly spread like the "Hello, April" sticker and the quote in the bottom corner.
Lastly, I went decorated the back of the month page with papers from the Dandelion Wishes Planner Kit and a pocket card from the Dandelion Wishes Modern Memory Keeping Kit. The kit came with these gorgeous butterflies that I knew I had to include. To make the wings lift off the page, I only adhered the middle of the butterflies. Now, when I open my planner, I can "fluff" the wings, which makes me smile. If you look closely, you can also see a different way I incorporated the film strip die cuts as a textural element. Watch my full process in this video on YouTube.
