It's a Staycation Kind of Day!
Hello friends, All of us are redefining what it means to travel in 2020 and we thought it would be fun to share a staycation layout idea with our To the Sea kits. In addition to travel themes, this collection can be used to create all sorts of every day documentation and we will be sharing more ideas over the coming weeks including some project life and summer story themes. Audrey's 12x12 layout is super fun and inspiring so let's jump in! "What are your plans this summer? I plan on many mini staycations on my back porch where I can just relax and read a book in my tranquil garden. Of course, I did a 12x12 layout celebrating it using the fabulous To The Sea kits. Let's take a closer look at some of the details." "I used a free cut file from Paige Taylor Evans that is a sun with the word Summer. I backed the sun and the letters from the word summer with some of the paper from the kits. To do this, I used the cut file as a stencil to trace on the paper. When I cut it out, I left a little room around the tracing in order to make space to adhere it to the back of the cut file. I popped the entire sun up off the page with pop dots and left the picture flat underneath." "I had to use that adorable cork turtle designed by Linous Pots as turtles are slow and to me, the slowness of the summer and relaxation on my porch is exactly what I wanted to convey in this layout. You will notice that I kept the bulk of my layout using light and airy colors, but left the turtle and the picture bold. I did this to emphasize my theme. By leaving those two elements bold, they stand out on the page really well." "On the right side of the sun, I did a small embellishment cluster using some of the die cuts and stickers from the kits. Notice how I put some stickers under the sun. By doing this, I emphasized the dimension of the sun. I love the versatility of the Cocoa Daisy kits. The theme this month is about the sea, however I was still able to create a fun layout that was not about the sea and had tons of options to do it." "Finally, I ended my layout with some journalling at the bottom right of my page. I used one of the die cuts from Pretty Little Studio that was in the Memory Keeping Classified kit. I seriously love the Memory Keeping Classified kit. Not only is it a secret and so fun to get each month when you have no idea what is in it, but Christine also does an awesome job curating the items to spark creativity with the kits." "Crafting and relaxing on my porch is how I am going to relax this summer. I am looking forward to seeing how all of you are going to do so. Cheers!" We are looking forward to sharing more inspiration with our To the Sea kits and would love for you to share your ideas too.
