TN Tuesday: Creative Designs with Kit Sketches
Hello Cocoa Daisy friends,
It's TN Tuesday, a day we explore traveler's notebook layouts and sketches from Christine. Today the DT is sharing their interpretation of Christine's sketches in both TN and 12x12 sizes. You are going to love these layouts with our To the Sea kits and want to try them in your own memory keeping!
Let's begin with a 12x12 design from Brande. "I absolutely love creating with sketches and this month’s sketch in the TN Memory Keeping Kit was no exception! While I do love documenting in a TN, I am mostly a 12x12 scrapbooker and I love challenging myself to use even TN sketches in a 12x12 format!"
"For my take I followed the sketch almost exactly - just bigger! With my favourite pattern paper of this whole collection, I split the page half white card stock and half blue wood grain. I then put some of amazing turquoise acrylic paint on some plastic, dipped in the side of a tube from a finished Washi tape roll and then stamped the circle on the white side of the paper. I then added a little water to the left over paint and using a paint brush added a few turquoise splatters."
"From there I went through the die cuts and rub ons in the kit and selected all the ones that were blue or green or both to create a monochromatic look. Feels very ‘sea shore’ to me and is the perfect colour for this recent evening photo of me and my nephew at our local beach!"
"A finished off with a title ‘heart this kid’ using the kit alphas and some splatters with white acrylic paint. I love how it turned out ... I think I have a new go-to sketch!"
Next we have a TN layout by Jil. "I followed the sketch included in the To the Sea TNMK kit. Delighted to see the turquoise paint in the kit, I happily used it on this page. The sketch shows loosely stamped circles, and I created mine with a paper towel cardboard core. With extra paint, I simply painted a small piece of white cardstock, which I had on hand to cut into a tab, a tiny border, and a mat for my title. This helped me get the turquoise moving around the page."
"I typed my journaling in two of the circles, filled three with patterned paper adhered with machine stitching, and painted a coral heart for the focal point of this cluster. A rub-on, sequin, and glitter dots finished off this area on the page. I departed from the sketch by adding my tiny painted border and a rub-on camera at the bottom of the page along with two more glitter dots. On the facing page, I used a full-page photo, as in the sketch, but instead of a word strip, I created a title with a rub-on (+ typing), matting the block on painted paper."
"Finally, I made the full-length photo a flip-up, including a mask-free photo of myself under the neck-gaiter selfie. The little painted tab with the arrow rub-on indicating something underneath was my final touch on this interactive side of the layout."
"I love the sketches and instruction sheets included in the TNMK kits--they jumpstart my pages and offer both helpful tips and inspiration!"
And our final design is a TN layout from Traci and she included a process video you can view here. "For my layout, I decided to use the Wild Adventure layout idea included in the TNMK instruction sheet for the Serengeti collection. The Wild Adventure layout includes a full page photo on the right hand side of the spread, but I decided to adapt the layout to use a regular sized photo instead."
"I also deviated from the initial inspiration in a couple of other ways. The tag I chose to use had a sentiment on it, so I moved it higher up on the page to allow for the sentiment."
"Finally, I added one more chevron to the right hand side to create a little better balance for my specific page and voila!"
"The key to making sketches and scrap lifts work for you is to always be willing to adjust the initial plan to fit your needs!"
