Give Your Older Kits New Life!

Give Your Older Kits New Life!
Hello, friends! Do you have past kits piling up, go ahead and pull them out and pair them up with more current kits! You can mix and match the kit by color scheme, theme, or break down kits and sort them by a category of your choosing. Once you've done this, now it is time to create! Marsha loves a little mix and match in her projects. Mixing and matching collections is a great way to use up leftover pieces from past kits. I combined bits from two of my favorite collections, Elegance Blooms Collection and Afternoon Tea Collection, to create a fun layout for my 6x8 album. At first glance, these collections may not appear to be a good match, but by using some of the more neutral pieces from the Elegance Blooms Collection, I was able to create a cohesive and pretty Mother's Day layout. I mixed the alpha stickers and stamps from the Elegance Blooms collection with the puffy alphabet stickers from the Afternoon Tea Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to create the layout title. I also pulled a fun die-cut frame from the Elegance Blooms Collection and layered it over a floral pocket card from the May kit. Next, I added an adhesive heart pocket from the Elegance Blooms Collection to the edge of a pocket card, trimmed off the excess, and did some machine stitching to seal the edge of the pocket. This pocket was perfect for tucking in a few paper and chipboard hexagons. Finally, I finished off the layout by creating a flip-up for my journaling using another pocket card from the Afternoon Tea Modern Memory Keeping Kit, and I embellished it with phrase stickers from this month's Memory Keeping Sticker Kit. I hope you will give mixing and matching collections a try for your next project! Traci had her eye on a mix and match right from the start. When I opened the box for the Koi Pond Collection, I was immediately reminded of the gorgeous Doodles & Dashes Collection from September 2021, so it was super easy to combine the two for this layout. I used the hanging polaroids paper from the Doodles & Dashes Collection both in my layout and as the motif for the design, cutting my photos and journal cards into polaroids and arcing them across the page like they were also hanging on the strings. I also "hung" the lanterns from the Koi Pond Collection from the Polaroid paper to mesh both themes together seamlessly.   Finally, I added a touch of the orange floral paper to the front of the sushi tag by punching out circles and layering them with stamped images. Check out my process video to see how I put this spread together. We hope you are inspired to mix and match your Cocoa Daisy Collections!
