Hello, friends! We are loving all the gorgeous patchwork patterns in the Peach Ridge Collection, including the various hexagons shapes in the papers, stickers, and die cuts and stamps. We challenged our Creative Team to design a layout that features hexagons and we can't wait to share them with you!   Traci shares how to make a hexagon background really stand out.

“There are a ton of hexagons in the Peach Ridge Collection, so I leaned all the way in with this spread!

The key is to vary the pattern either with the stitched hexagons (on the lefthand side of the spread) or by placing a different shape where the hexagons should be to keep it interesting!

The end result is a fun mishmash of shapes that keeps the spread from being boring.

Pro tip: tape off the inside of the "today" hexagon stamp from the Peach Ridge Modern Memory Keeping Kit, ink, and then remove the tape to get JUST the stitching around the outside to stamp!”

“I’m currently using my Peach Ridge Simple Dori to document all the fun, cute, and random things my kiddos say. I wanted to have a focal spread with photos of their faces, so I used a cut-up proof sheet from my photo printing order to make sure I got all their faces on one spread. I love the hexagon patterned tip-in included in the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping kit; it seemed to be just the right paper to cut out shapes for a “peek a boo” effect.

To make the hexagon “windows” seem a bit more homespun, I added some messy stitching. On the left side of the spread, I used different sticker die-cuts from the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping kit.

I used the “more of this” die-cut as a pattern to cut out two floral paper hexagons. Two of the sticker die cuts are arrows, inviting you to look towards the photos and flip the hexagon tip-in.

On the flipped side of the hex paper, I added some watercolor wash and some chipboard die cuts also from the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping kit. Since the photos were “framed” in a sense by the hexagon paper, I wanted to have some anchoring element on the white grid page. Enter washi tape again! This time I cut it in half horizontally so as to not overwhelm the photos-and then I framed them out. I had fun adding some marker lines and other chipboard/die-cut elements to finish off this multidimensional & shapely spread.

    April shares how to keep a layout clean and simple with repeating element like hexagons.

“I am loving the colors and hexagons throughout the Peach Ridge Collection. I wanted the colors of the collection to pop off the page so I paired embellishments with a black and white photo.

Keeping the page clean and simple while layering the Peach Ridge Memory Keeping Stamps with cutout hexagons from the Peach Ridge Classified: Memory Keeping Kit, I decided to add the journaling card separately. The photo page stays simple and uncluttered, but the journaling still coordinates with the page.

For the background layers: I paired hexagon cutouts with imperfectly lined up stitch stamps. I knew I was working with a 3x4 photo and wanted the majority of color to come from opposite corners of the page. The hexagon on the bottom right serves as a page-turner and marker for August pages.”
