Adding Stitched Details to Your Memory Keeping Designs

Isn't it fun when one hobby inspires another hobby? Today, we are taking a cue from the wonderful world of sewing and quilting to feature stitching in our memory-keeping designs. Stitching on paper adds texture and can be a great option for adhering to a flip, flap, or pocket. I love scrapbooking but I also love knitting and sewing, especially quilting. I’m not particularly great at it, but I really enjoy cutting all the fabric just so and piecing it all together. When I saw the hexagon-shaped die cuts in the Peach Ridge Modern Memory Keeping Kit. That combined with the stamps that resemble hand stitching in the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and I was ready to bring quilting to my page.
It’s a fairly simple layout with a big impact. I’m all about my instant photo printer right now so I printed out a trio of photos. My mom, sister, and I went to a u-pick flower farm recently and it was such a lovely experience I knew would mesh well with the colours and patterns in Peach Ridge Collection. I laid those down on the page and then started piecing my hexagons around them. There’s even a mini sticky note pad that comes with the Modern Memory Keeping Kit that is the same shape and size!
With all the patterns and colours I kept embellishing simple. First I used the stamp with all the stitches and added some stitch detail on the hexagons. The Modern Memory Keeping Kit also has a hexagon-shaped “today” stamp that fits perfectly in it so I used that. Then I finished it up with some well-placed chipboard phrase stickers, asterisks, and some of those sweet matte enamel dots. Easy peasy!

Like many of you, I was delighted to see the stitching stamps in the Peach Ridge Collection. I just started learning Sashiko, the Japanese art of embroidery and mending stitches, and I made a notebook page to document the beginning of a relaxing new hobby.
My design is a messy grid, and I combined machine stitching with stamping in each quadrant. I stacked labels from the Peach Ridge Classified Memory Keeping Kit on the left side, and used the Peach Ridge Memory Keeping Stamps on four of them--the safety pin stamp was especially fun! Instead of blocks of patterned paper, I enjoyed hand-cutting some organic shapes.
The woodgrain paper from the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit is such a nice complement to the blues and peaches in this collection that I had to punch a few rings to scatter around the page. I also used the dark woodgrain as a home for my title. For a page about Sashiko, the Peach Ridge Collection couldn't have been more perfect!

I thought the stitches tied in perfectly with the theme of mending a broken heart, so I went all-in with them, bending the stamps from the Peach Ridge Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to wrap around the circles on my layout and using them to frame my photos and my journaling!
The messy ends were especially perfect because heartbreak is messy, so I made sure to add in some "loose ends" to my circles as well!
