Designing with Delicate Details and the Umber and Gold Collection
Hello, friends! It is all about the details in today's post. We are focusing on all the ways to create using delicate details found in the Umber & Gold Collection. The color palette, patterns, die cuts, stickers, and stamps all have such pretty little designs, perfect for decorating the pages of your journals, planner, and memory-keeping spreads.¬† The tiny size of Jill's project is perfect for showcasing her little embellishments. I'm working small, in an A6 notebook, and so my embellishments are small, too. Drawing on mostly Umber & Gold Collection, I also pulled in the delightful puffy stickers from Doodles & Dashes Collection to tell this story about the transition to fall running. I clustered embellishments along the edges of the page, using punches and enamel dots to make small circles to mimic the apples in my photo and tiny squares (made with a checkerboard edge punch). It's always satisfying, even on a small spread, to bring in touches of the gorgeous patterned paper from the kits. The Umber & Gold Memory Keeping Sticker Kit is fun to draw from, too, and it helped me create my title and reinforce my theme, as did the stamps from the Umber & Gold Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, especially the circular "autumn is my favorite." I used the label stamp in apple colors twice, once for the sentiment and once for the date. My handwritten journaling balances the photo and reminds me of my feelings of anticipation on this early fall day!"   April shows us that simple designs work well with delicate details. "Delicate stampy layers: simple but fun. I wanted a minimal ‚Äútitle‚Äù look for the cover and loved the simple hexagon sticker from the Umber & Gold Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I thought about layering chipboard elements but did not want to bulk up the cover. I traced the small hexagon sticker and scattered the leaf stamp from the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit around the edge before going back with the second leaf layer stamp. This was fast, fun, and a simple look, but I love it. This could be duplicated inside a planner, on a pocket card, or in the corner of a memory-keeping page."   Even 12x12 spreads, like Audrey's, benefit from tiny decorative details. "Have you seen all of the absolutely stunning little delicate details in the Umber & Gold Collection? These little details have my heart. For this 12x12 layout of my dear Barley Jane, I used a lot of these tiny details to make a big splash. Let's look at some of these details that I used. The chipboard found in the Umber & Gold Modern Memory Keeping Kit and the Umber & Gold Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit is so fun. These tiny chipboard circles really add some pop to this page. The die cuts that can be found in all the kits are filled with tiny dun details. I especially loved the soft pastel floral die cuts that just accentuate fall. I used them around this page again to pull it all together. Finally one of my most favorite details from the Umber & Gold Memory Keeping Classified Kit is this beautiful sweet ribbon. I used it as a bow on the sentiment tag, also from the Umber & Gold Memory Keeping Classified Kit."   Share with us your delicate designs by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media or posting to the Cocoa Daisy Fan Page.
