Hello, friends! Vellum is a medium that can add texture and often a little whimsy to your memory keeping spreads. This Month, suscribers to the Pocket Memory Keeping Kit and the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit received a package of delicate, vellum snowflakes. Today, we have two ideas from our Memory Keeping Design Team on ways to incorporate this unique product in your layouts. To start, let's see how Carol used the vellum snowflakes to create texture and interest to a story in her December Album. "Goodbye Hustle ... a title I am clinging tightly to as this year comes to a close. As soon as I saw the vellum snowflakes I knew I wanted to use them in some sort of falling/hanging pattern and the fact that they coordinated with the stamps I purchased for sending out Christmas cards this year was just icing on the cake! This spread in my December Album for 2020 is all about taking steps to accomplish holiday goals, without being frantic about it. If you read the journaling closely, you’ll notice a fun thing one of my kiddos did to our mailbox. Vellum is one of those papers that can be tricky to adhere. I generally stick to mini staples or sewing - I just love the homespun/imperfect look and texture it adds to my projects. These vellum snowflakes would also make a beautiful garland -just run them through the sewing machine one by one-to string across a traditional layout and add whimsy.  Sew fun, don’t you think?" We love how Carol created added dimension by lifting the corners of the snowflakes off the page. Stapling and stiching are both great ways to adhere vellum to your designs. Next, we have Aimee sharing a 12x12 layout featuring the vellum snowflakes with a wreath design.

"I‚Äôm back again to share this snowflake inspired wreath design, documenting a trip we took to the snow. When I saw the vellum snowflakes that came in the Cranberry Rose Memory Keeping Pocket Kit, I started thinking up ways I wanted to use them.¬† I decided that making them into a wreath would be so much fun. To make the wreath, I started out by stitching a big wonky circle in the middle of my page as sort of a guide for my snowflakes and also because I am a sucker for stitching. After adding some mixed media over the top, I placed my snowflakes, in alternating sizes, in a wreath shape and nestled my photo off to the side. It was at this moment when I realized I didn‚Äôt have enough snowflakes to make the wreath look as full as I would like. I decided to use the large wood veneer snowflakes from the Memory Keeping Classified Kit to fill in some of the gaps. I just love how they add a natural element to the spread. To further fill in some of the gaps in my wreath, I gathered up different circular embellishments in coordinating colors from both the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and Memory Keeping: Pocket Kit. I even punched circles out of the kit packaging because I noticed they had snowflakes too! I made a title out of one of the foam words and a trimmed down, die cut banner that reads, ‚ÄúWinter Wonders‚Äù.¬†Since it does not snow where we live, being in this winter wonderland was truly a winter wonder for us, it felt so magical and certainly put us in the Christmas spirit.¬† To give the spread even MORE texture and sparkle I added some Shimmerz Paint and a nest of thread. I just love the icy look of this wreath layout and I‚Äôm so happy to have this story in my album. What kind of wreath can you create with the Cranberry Rose Collection?
