A Few New Ways to Add Labels to Your Memory Keeping
Hello, friends! If there is one thing we love around here, it is labels! They are a consistent element found our Memory Keeping Kits and are the perfect addition to just about any layout! While labels are traditionally used to record specifics within your memory spread, we find ourselves using them for so much more. Labels can be used to build layers, as tabs for interactive elements on your page, or in places of other decorative elements like washi. If you haven't already seen, Cocoa Daisy recently released a new sticker kit that includes a half a page of labels to work with. The label sizes in the kits vary with larger die cuts in the Modern Memory Keeping Kit and the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and smaller, simple labels in the Memory Keeping Sticker Kit. In today's post, we challenged our design team to share the label love with us! First, we have a Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook design from Jil, featuring several techniques for using labels. For this notebook spread, I used the bright and cheery tabs from the New Chapter Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I documented a book I read and series I watched in December, “The Good Lord Bird” by combining an image from the show on the right with a glassine envelope on the facing page to hold a 3X4 card with my journaling. No photo description available. The inspiration for the spread was the review stamp from the New Chapter Modern Memory Keeping kit, which I stamped at the top of the journaling card. No photo description available. The daisy stamp from the same set allowed me to bring in more of the orange-yellow of the movie poster, and the bird die-cut and sticker underscores the bird motif in the book and series while also adding a whimsical touch. Below this, I typed on two of the labels from the sticker kit. I love the detail and texture the labels add to my spread, which I finished off with the scribble stamp and washi tape from the New Chapter Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, along with a little chevron washi from the New Chapter Modern Memory Keeping kit, and a few glitter dots that are included in both memory keeping kits. For those of us with large handwriting (guilty!) stamping phrases onto labels is a great way to add sentiments to your memory keeping. We also love how Jil created decorative clusters with her labels and a tab for her journaling card. Next, Natasha shares a unique memory keeping layout with perfect layers of labels. No photo description available. I am such a fan of labels and fresh starts. The New Chapter collection is such a beautiful kit that includes these two elements. No photo description available. For this project I created a special self-care inspired reflection layout to highlight what I aspire to leave behind in 2020 and what I plan to cultivate in the new year. The bold and bright labels paired with the black and white elements from January’s kit make such a stunning combo. No photo description available. In this project I used labels from both the New Chapter Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit , the New Chapter Memory Keeping Sticker Kit and the Daisy Add On Sticker Kit which provide some subtle differences in texture throughout the layout. When selecting my labels for this project, I chose repeating colors (teals, greens, grays and blues) in a variety of sizes. Labels provide an excellent foundation for layering clusters. I recommend starting off with laying down a larger sized label and then proceeding to put smaller sized labels on top of that foundational label and off setting each alternating label. No photo description available. To top off my label clusters I used some enamel dots and washi tape found in the TNMK kit to add some variety and dimensional interest. I am obsessed with these die cuts because the pre-adhesive makes it SO easy to use! I am so pleased with how the labels framed the interactive door element and the cuteness of the little tab. Those enamel dots really pop on to of the labels and is a good reminder that labels can be used as a foundation for embellishment clusters against a patterned background. As you can see, labels can definitely be used for than just writing down the little details. How are you using labels in your layouts? We would love to see!
