Taina Cortes: Pocket Pages Spreads
Hello crafty friends, its Tai and I am here with two pocket page layouts in my 6x8 story album. I have developed a nice rhythm with 6x8 pocket pages lately. I am able to stay current, print many photos and tell longer stories on journal cards. The Silent Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit has tons of cards with great sentiments and journaling areas.
For the first layout I printed a large 7x8.25 black and white photo of my daughter and I recently. This size measurement is outside the page protector which I do like to include from time to time. I added many of the die cut elements from the Silent Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit shaped like film along the bottom of the photo and added the foam title ‘reflect’ on top. I also used a bit of washi tape at the top and added some star stamping to really give it some detail.
The opposite side I used 2 4x6 cards from the Silent Moon Modern Memory Keeping Kit, one with the fantastic quote and the other let me journal about motherhood and how well I know every shade of my daughters personality. I also added the star stamp to the journaling card for added details.
When you turn over the page, I created another layout with a similar theme. I selected a few sentiment cards from the kit and added 2 more journaling cards. My journaling is usually done on matte clear sticker paper so that it can adhere to these journaling cards and not cover any of the beautiful illustrations.
I added more details to these cards and my photos with more elements from the kit. The floral die cuts and a few stars were added to join cards together. I repeat date stamped on a label and added it to the floral card and then matted my black and white photos with other cards from the collection so both sides were joined.
Once again, my journaling is motherhood lessons and advice to my daughter. I selected a photo of a touching moment when she was sick with the flu and how helpless and defeated that week, but also how I never left her side or gave up when it was hard. It is an endearing photo and then selected another happy one for the opposite side.
Life is a roller coaster ride and I enjoy the highs and learn/reflect from the lows. I think everyone does. I hope my two pocket page layouts in my 6x8 album give you inspiration on how to use these journal cards for a cohesive layout or to tell a similar story. Thank you for joining me.
