3 Reasons Why You'll Love Using Tags in Your Layouts
Hello friends,
The tags in our kits are a staple, extremely versatile and can be used in any style of memory keeping or planning. Tags can be used as the main foundation for a layout, planner page or greeting card, a journaling spot, a small work of art, a bookmark, and a host of other ideas! We've talked about using them to create mini albums, hold extra photos in a pocket, or as a way to include hidden journaling.
You can also create your own tags in just about any shape or size from items in our kits. They can be created with punches, dies, and cutting machines. Tags can be hand drawn or cut from digital templates too. Yep, tags are a basic amazing element in your toolbox!  Let's see what our design team has dreamed up for us today beginning with this awesome 12x12 layout.
Brande created tags from one of our gorgeous Solstice kit papers and is using them as a layer behind her photo.
We love the mixed media background Brande created and the way she carried it to her tags. Here are some close-ups.
With a few simple embellishments and a bold color palette, Brande's custom tags draw the viewer immediately to her photo! Brande's layout is stunning and shows off the flexibility of creating designs with our kits.
Next we have this gorgeous tag card created by Korrie-ann. "I have gotten a little creative with this project, not only is this a birthday card but it can also be used to hold a tea light (an artificial flame as a real one would be a fire hazard) whilst on display. The card itself is made from a sheet of 8 by 8 1/4 inch card stock, I watched a tutorial on YouTube and thought I would create my own."
"I have decorated using a piece of the paper from the memory keeping kit. On the taller part, I used a hexagon die to cut out the windows and popped the gold foil vellum to allow the light from the tea light to shine through.
For the pop-up embellishments, I used the stamps from both the memory keeping and pocket memory keeping kit and stamped them in purple and attached them to the top of the cubes along with the moon and star stuff phrase die cut. The great thing about getting two packs of the die cuts meant that I could use the strip of stars to the top of the card and both base cubes."
"Of course, this is not your typical card so instead of having to write on the card I have added a backing onto the moon tag and made it into a little card that fits perfectly inside the main card. I absolutely love it and will definitely be making more!" What an amazing greeting card! Korrie-ann has added lots of lovely details and to be able to use the card as a tea light holder too is intriguing.
Our final design is from Rachel using her Solstice trimmed down Simple Dori Travelers Notebook. "There is so much creative inspiration all around me, and I love tapping into it! For this project, I found inspiration from two creative souls that helped to kickstart my process! I used tags as a layering element in my (trimmed down) Simple Dori inspired by my dear friend ( and former guest designer!) Natasha (@craftingextremelove) and made a tag mini book, inspired by the amazing Heidi Swapp!"
"For September, I decided to trim down my Simple Dori to roughly A6 Size ( 4.1 x 5.üòé with the hopes that the smaller size will help me complete the insert in a timely manner. If August is any indication, I think I‚Äôm on the right track! Head to my YouTube channel to see the setup of this notebook and a flip through of my August Simple Dori!"
"To start, I used the kraft paper bag from the classified kit to cover the printed pattern. The pattern was beautiful, but I liked the kraft paper as a more neutral background. Next, I trimmed paper from the Classified Memory Keeping Kit into a tag. For convenience, I created a tag template awhile ago, to help me with those little corners! I adhered the tag to the page at a slight angle for visual interest and then added the pocket card and paper scraps. To finish this page, I added a little stamping."
"The coordinating page came together really fast! I printed and added my photo (roughly 3x4 horizontally). Next, I trimmed the little tag to peak out from under the photo, and added a strip of washi and the alpha’s from the Memory Keeping Sticker kit to the top for my title. To finish the spread, I added some journaling, the date, and a little icon sticker from the Classic Sticker kit."
"This mini tag album was so fun to put together. To make this, you will need long strips of paper. I used the scraps from my Simple Dori insert hack as the base. First, I folded all the papers I planned to use and staple the papers together at the fold. You will want the back page to be about a .5 in longer than the rest of the papers."
"Next, I cut the front flap into a tag shape. I folded up the bottom of the back page to make a closure, like a matchbook and secured with staples. I used the mini book to document the little moments from the day and decorated with stickers die cuts."
"This was such a fun little project and I can’t wait to add it to my completed weekly spread in my memory planner!" You can see a video of how Rachel put her mini tag album together here.
