Traci Reed: 12x12 Layout with the Penelope Scrapbook Papers and Pocket Cards

 Penelope Scrapbook Kit

This layout using the Penelope Scrapbook Kit perfectly captures a sweet, romantic moment while showcasing the flexibility of this gorgeous collection. I loved the both the Penelope Scrapbook Kit and Penelope 12x12 Paper Add On, but since I had already made a mini album with a lot of the die cuts from the Penelope Collection, I needed more!

The Penelope Pocket Cards were my secret weapon for bringing this layout to life. I fussy-cut the typewriter to anchor my title cluster and layered it with a mix of text snippets and embellishments to give the design extra charm. The florals became vibrant, dimensional accents that tied together the patterned paper background and highlighted the photos. By cutting these elements, I maximized the amount of embellishments I had that complemented the remaining embellishments in the Penelope Scrapbook Kit seamlessly.

One of my favorite details is how the florals frame the photos. They help balance the bold pink mats while softening the overall look, creating a romantic and cohesive design. Meanwhile, the typewriter—paired with the “our story” sentiment—draws the eye toward the bottom of the layout, emphasizing the journaling-inspired theme. I also layered the cut-out phrases, such as “To Love and Be Loved,” to create meaningful clusters that resonate with the story behind the photos.

This project reminded me how much potential lies in thinking creatively about your supplies. The  Penelope Collection has so many stunning elements to work with, and by using scissors and a little imagination, I was able to stretch the kit even further. If you’re looking to add personal flair to your layouts, try cutting apart journal cards or patterned papers. You’ll be amazed at how much dimension and personality this technique can add!
