Scrap Small Saturday: Album Cover Pages

Howdy, friends

It's "Scrap Small Saturday" and today we are sharing how to use the Big Sky Collection to create your cover page!

Traci Reed: Scrap Small Saturday: Creating an Album Cover Page

Designing an album cover page is like setting the scene for the stories inside—and can be the hardest part of the album! Since I’m using a Life Crafted album, it’s even harder! It's small, about 5x8.25", so I had to make every inch count!

I wanted the cover page to tell people what the album was about without using too many words so, I kept it simple. I picked a photo of me and my friend in front of a Nashville mural which shows exactly what our trip was all about without the need for a space-taking title.

To give the cover page a country vibe, I used stickers and rub-ons from the Cocoa Daisy Big Sky Collection sticking mainly to decorative icons that matched our Nashville theme perfectly, but topping it off with bold black rub ons that were of a cowgirl (of course) and the word howdy. To play off the black, I added a stamped black bookplate from the stamp set in the Big Sky Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit as a place to put my dates and some more tiny word stamping.

Lastly, I punched stars from the denim paper and placed them around the page with the fun enamel dots at the center, to mimic the Tennessee flag. With limited space, I wanted the photo to be the star. The decorations were just there to add a little extra flair without taking away from the main picture.

When you're making your own album cover page, remember to keep it simple. Let your photos shine, and add just enough decorations to make it pop. And don't forget to have fun with it!
