Elizabeth Jorgenson: When Functional Planning meets Memory-Keeping

Hello friends! Elizabeth here from @thejoyfulsojourn on YouTube and Instagram to share how I make my functional planning pages fun and memorable!

If your planner has a monthly dashboard, let’s make it functional and fun for all the December things! From picking up the ham to documenting your favorite moments, your planner can do it all with a little extra winter charm from the Snow Day Society Stationery Kit.

This two-page spread before my monthly layout is prime real estate for creative play and functionality! Here I’ve used clear decorative stickers from the Snow Day Society Stationery Kit in the upper left and lower right corners of the page. Bracketing the page with deco gives your eye the most bang for your buck, without losing too much writing space.

Another great way to add life to your page without losing too much function is gluing down a sticky note! I used a sticky note from the Snow Day Society Stationery Kit for all my ‘clever thoughts’ this month. I outlined the sticky note and added some stitching with a black pen to make it look more playful on the page, like the rest of the illustrations.

The right side of my page is for memory keeping! I love the bear sipping hot chocolate, so I laid him atop some washi tape and added a quote bubble above his head.

Since the right page is for memory keeping, I opted for a journaling-style header, ripping a piece of vellum from the Snow Day Society Stationery Kit, and gluing it to the top corner. I added alphas and outlined them in black for a little extra contrast.

I hope this encourages you to get fun and playful in your planners! Yes, they can house important information that keeps you organized this holiday season, but they can also capture important moments, too. And this is your reminder that planners don't have to be boring! I hope this month's collection adds a lot of joy and whimsy to your holiday season!
