Hello, Friends!
It is a new month, which means it is time to start fresh in your new Denim & Blush Simple Dori Travelers Notebook. We like to think of the Simple Dori as a small canvas with endless possibilities! It's the perfect place to tell small stories, journal, make creative lists, or just get crafty. To help inspire you, we have three gorgeous designs from our Memory Keeping Team to help get your creativity going.
Jennie mirrors the striped page in her design by stacking her embellishments.
"I was super excited by the ombre on this page in the Denim & Blush Simple Dori Travelers Notebook. It's not a complicated design but I wanted it to shine, nonetheless.
I kept it simple by stacking up the various die cuts in a linear fashion, topping the die cuts with a chipboard piece or two from the Denim and Blush Modern Memory Keeping Kit. In the end, it all came together as I had imagined with all eyes leading to the photo."
We love the whimsical feel of Jennie’s spread. Giving your embellishments some “breathing room” keeps a design clean while also having a visual impact.
Aimee shares a spread focusing on a few colors from the kit and a simple, but lovely repeated element.
"Hi there, it’s Aimee popping in with a spread for “Traveler’s Notebook” Tuesday. I love working in this size, especially to tell smaller or more intimate stories. I also love that the Denim and Blush Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit comes with a variety of gorgeous papers with great patterns or quotes — these do a lot of the work for you if you leave them as is as I’ve done here.
For the opposite side of the spread, I wanted to play with the idea of scallops so I took a 1-inch punch and punched out some half-circles from the patterned papers in the Denim and Blush Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. Lining up the flat edge of the circles along the edge of your spread or photo creates the illusion of a scalloped border. This is one of my favorite techniques since it allows for the mixing of different colored scallops, whereas a border punch would be limiting. I then played off of the scallops I created by choosing some wonderful scalloped/floral label stickers from the Denim and Blush Memory Keeping Sticker Kit to create an embellishment cluster. A simple phrase sticker and circular die-cut piece act as a title for this spread.
To finish off, I added stitching for added texture and, of course, some paint splatters. This color palette really makes for a soft and dreamy look and is a great companion for my photo and story. I hope you were inspired to create something dreamy in your Denim & Blush Simple Dori Travelers Notebook today! Make sure to check out my process video on my YouTube channel. Happy crafting!" Aimee did a beautiful job incorporating the scalloped border into her spread with the scallop stickers. The airy feel of this layout certainly makes our soul happy!
Evy shares a layout with all the lovely layers and texture.
"I was inspired by a Christine Everett project that you find in the Denim and Blush Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I want to take this opportunity to tell you about my new obsession: the traveler’s notebook-sized cards! You can find them in the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and they are exceptional. You can use them by simply gluing them or you can embellish them with die-cuts, stickers, stamps, or use them all together as I did.
I decided to create the title of this project by mixing the puffy alphabet with the alphabet contained in the Denim and Blush Memory Keeping Sticker Kit. I also added two stickers from the same kit and stamped the writing several times.
For the right page, I overlaid the photo with two patterned cards and added only a caption and die-cuts, a stamped one, and voila, that's it! I completed the spread with chipboard stickers to give movement and dimension to the design." We love how Evy mixed fonts and texture with her title and added a subtle background texture with the repeat stamping.
We hope this inspired you to open your Simple Dori and start documenting your stories today! Share what you create by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media or posting to the Cocoa Daisy Fan Page.
