Traci Reed: Terrific Titles with Chapters of September Scrapbooking Kit

One of my favorite ways to make a scrapbook layout feel dynamic is by mixing fonts or text styles in the title. It’s a simple design trick that brings so much personality to a page—and it’s especially effective when you’re telling a big story, like celebrating twenty years with your person.

For this layout, I used products from the Chapters of September Scrapbooking Kit, along with the Chapters of September 12x12 Papers and Chapters of September Journal Cards. The title “Twenty Years Together” was the emotional center of the page, so I wanted it to stand out without feeling too heavy. I combined bold, uppercase alphas with the softer vellum script word to strike that perfect balance between celebratory and heartfelt.

When mixing typography like this, contrast is key. I chose chunky, dimensional letters for “TWENTY YEARS” to create visual weight and give the title a grounded presence. The word “together” from the Chapters of September Scrapbooking Kit in a script style adds flow and warmth, echoing the emotional tone of the journaling and photos. Placing both elements on top of a striped journal card from the  Chapters of September Journal Cards helped them pop against the background while tying into the rest of the page’s cozy autumn palette.

Mixing fonts or alphas doesn’t have to be complicated—it just takes a little intentionality. Look for contrasts in scale, texture, or shape, and let your title reflect the tone of the story you’re telling. Whether it’s bold, soft, playful, or elegant, a well-designed title is one of the easiest ways to add both visual interest and emotional weight to your layout.
