Super Ideas for Creating a Framed Look in Your Layouts and Planners
Greetings! We often use frames to bring attention to a photo or journaling in our layouts and when we want to call attention to something pertinent in our planners. There are many ways to use framing to highlight the item of interest and we begin today with a wonderful 12x12 design from Jil using our brand new Solstice kits. "The Solstice kit beautifully evokes starry skies and (for me anyway) sleep and dreams. So I used a black and white photo of my dream journal to explore my fascination with dreams. I framed my photo with a flower, a star, a moon, and a border of moon phases, in addition to a label with the date of my journaling." "I love the papers in the kits, so I layered them under my photo in large blocks, inking the edges with purple. I framed the layout as a whole with a visual triangle of vellum stars, each of which is surrounded by confetti made of ink splatters, sequins, and enamel stars." "My journaling is framed out by two die cuts and one of the fanciful arrows. I also stamped around the page for one additional layer of framing." "The ripped cardstock edges gave me the chance to use a bit more of the patterned paper and to pull the design together. I love the fresh theme of this kit, which, along with the beautiful colors and dreaminess, made Solstice a joy to work with!" We appreciate the detailed way Jil's used of various kit embellishments to frame the items in her documentation that she wanted to stand out. And the stamping draws us into her layout. Now let's take a peek at what Brande has created for the "Frame It" theme. “To say I like the stamps in the Backyard Bloom collection is an understatement - I love, love, love these beauties a lot! So much so, as soon as I was given the challenge to bring ‘frame it’ into my project I knew I wanted to frame a 12x12 in all the stamps!” ”I reached for my Staz On and the stamps from the TN Memory Keeping Kit and Pocket Memory Keeping Kit and just stamped all around the edges in no particular pattern. I added some Shimmerz in a couple of blue and green tones that match the kit papers for a touch of colour.” ”Then just went to town layering all kinds of embellishments and papers from the TN Memory Keeping Kit to create a fun cluster in the middle for my photos.” ”I finished it off with one of the cute white clips in the kit - like a little cherry on top!” Brande’s stamping is absolutely amazing! We love her idea to frame an entire 12x12 layout in this way. We'd love to see what you are making with our kits and encourage you to share with us on our private facebook group or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media. We hope you have an awesome week! ~Robin
