Carol Weatherspoon: Creating a Stamped Background
I absolutely LOVE stamping, so Stamping Saturday is right up my alley! Okay, let me first start off by saying the Spice Market Collection is gorgeous! The colors are so bright, vibrant, and fun! A little background about this spread...my mom recently came to Florida for a visit and it was our first visit since COVID. Needless to say, we were way overdue and had a fantastic time! We took this photo after having a "girls' day" at the hair salon and were fortunate to show 3 Generations of our family. Really Good Stuff! Now, back to stamping! One thing I love about stamps is making your own patterned paper. The great thing about the stamps from Spice Market Memory Keeping Stamp Sets is the size for creating patterns and that's exactly what I did on the left side of the spread. I used bright inks to coordinate with the beautiful paper. Next, I added a few embellishments and the large #3 was stamped using the Beanstalk Alpha Stamp Set. Then I used those awesome puffy stickers to spell out the word generations and included a sticker to represent each syllable. On the right side of the spread, I kept it very minimal as my large photo is the star on that side. I just added a couple of embellishments to finish it off. So, the next time you have a blank slate and cute stamps, create your own patterned paper! Trust me, you'll love the results!Jil Larson: Stamping Techniques for a 12x12 Layout
For this 12x12 page, I gathered together seven of the flower photographs I’ve taken this summer. I knew this would be a bright layout, and the Spice Market Collection was perfect to support the delightful riot of color. I layered and stitched some strips of the patterned paper beneath my photos. The white space is almost entirely on the left of my page. After adhering the half-circle chipboard pieces and a large magenta rub-on pattern, I was ready to stamp in the colors of the kit: magenta, purple, blue, bright yellow, and lime green. I stamped the larger mandala from the Spice Market Modern Memory Keeping Kit in a combination of colors that would make parts of it seem to melt into the background. I layered the text stamps in blue over these mandalas, pulling “summer” and “sunny days” from prior kits. Next, I stamped the small mandala near each of my other layers of stamping or rub-ons, essentially stamping along the edges of the page, one of my favorite techniques. I also applied a border rub-on along the top edge. You’ll notice that the mandala near the bottom is “echo-stamped.” This is a free, messy look that also adds depth. My final bit of stamping was done with a roller date stamp. In short, stamping is a great way to play with the colors in a collection, reinforce a theme with the sentiment or phrase stamps, and create a background that is like personalized patterned paper.Jennie McGarvey: Stamping in Your Planner
