Simple Dori Saturday with Wisteria Lane

Simple Dori Saturday with Wisteria Lane
Hello, friends! It's another edition of "Simple Dori Saturday" featuring the gorgeous Wisteria Lane Collection. We have three Simple Dori spreads from our Creative Team that we know you are going to love! Jil loves switching things up in her Simple Dori¬†creating a horizontal alignment for her layout. I created this Wisteria Lane Simple Dori spread in the midst of the heatwave we experienced unseasonably early in June. My corgi is miserable in the heat, and so as much as she loves watching squirrels and deer, this time of year she prefers enjoying the view from inside an air-conditioned house. I was inspired not only by the weather and the photo I took of Hazel but also by the die-cut sentiment "hot n' hazy," since Hazy is one of her nicknames. I love flipping my notebook from time to time to scrap with horizontally oriented pages. I began by using a circle stencil and my deep coral and yellow color scheme. I balanced the photo on top with a title underneath and created a second title next to the photo. I used the yellow alpha stickers from the Wisteria Lane Classified: Memory Keeping Kit in both word stacks. The top one includes stamping and one of the foam words, while the bottom combines the yellow alpha with the die-cut that inspired the layout. I loved playing with the stitching stickers from the Classified: Memory Keeping Kit. A little patterned paper at the bottom, stamping on the color swatch paper, embellishing on the photo, and I was nearly done. My journaling runs along the diagonal, and I decided to embellish it with confetti made with the tiny heart stamp and colored pencils. I hope this spread gives you ideas about how to combine kit elements in your notebook spread using die-cuts or stickers to jumpstart storytelling!   Jennie has found her groove the Simple Dori¬†by creating themed inserts with each booklet. I created an entire Simple Dori for a weekend trip we took using the My Escape Simple Dori Travelers Notebook and the My Escape Modern Memory Keeping Kit (see the flip through here!) I loved the process and the outcome so much, I decided I would use the Wisteria Lane Simple Dori and Wisteria Lane Modern Memory Keeping Kit to document the summer of 2021. (Between the last day of school and the first day of school)   I got a good start and these are the first 5 layouts. I've already mentally prepared for a couple more (photos yet to be taken, LOL!) and I cannot wait. I'm keeping the pages relatively simple. I think that was the key to my success in completing the My Escape Simple Dori was simple pages with stamping and strategic embellishments. And that is something that I continued here. The only page that is worth mentioning as a little different is the "Live In The Sun Shine" page, where I created my own stencil using simple printer paper. I cut out a shape that resembles a waterdrop from a splash, then blended ink over the page to mimic the splashes in the swimming pool. A couple of stamps accented the page perfectly!   Aimee was also inspired to use the "Live in the Sun Shine" page as her creative kickstart. Hi there Daisies! For "Simple Dori Saturday" I wanted to use one of the graphic pages in the Dori. I absolutely love this, ‚ÄúLive in the Sunshine‚Äù patterned paper. It's an absolute plus that when you use these quote pages; your layout comes together in a snap! For the left side of the page, I punched half circles out of the yellow folder from the Wisteria Lane Classified: Memory Keeping Kit to create a scalloped edge. I then decided to do generational stamping down the page with one of the sentiment stamps from the Wisteria Lane Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I also mixed in some die-cut phrases that seemed to match up with the theme of my page. Next up, to add a bit more contrast and interest I grabbed the clear faux stitching sticker from Pretty Little Studio that came in the Classified: Memory Keeping Kit and framed out both sides of the layout. I love the look this gives and saves me from pulling out my sewing machine! Once I had everything in place I applied some black acrylic paint splatter to tie the two sides together. I absolutely love the result and the summertime vibes. I hope you make time to create something summery today! Lots of great ideas, don't you think!
