Hello, Friends!
In today's post, we are focusing our attention on the adorable, and versatile, stamp sets from the Cranberry Rose Collection. If you subscribe to the Memory Keeping: Pocket Kitor the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, you receive one of these exclusive stamp sets every month. The stamps are always something we look forward to and can be utilized again and again. This month's stamp sets (which can also be purchased separately ) include snowflakes, mugs, trees, and several snuggly sentiments to capture this holiday season. We have two designs for you that show different ways to use the stamps in your memory keeping and planner spreads.
Robin is sharing a gorgeous pocket page spread, complete with an embossed stamp background.
"For December I wanted to document my favorite hot drinks with a textured layout. I decided to create a heat embossed background with kit papers and stamps. I don't emboss often but December is a special month in our family and I like to add more sparkle and shine to my December memory keeping.
The background didn't turn out the way I wanted but I was able to cut up the embossed paper and use it to create a pocket card and add a small title to my journaling. I used the typewriter alpha stickers from the memory keeping sticker kit to create my title ‘minty goodness’ and I added some chipboard and die-cut embellishments. In the end, I love the pocket card with the double background and raised circles, and I’m happy I nixed my original idea.
If you decide to heat emboss using our stamp sets, I recommend prepping your surface with a touch of baby powder and having a small square flat paintbrush on hand to "sweep" away excess embossing powder. Also, don't be afraid to use that brush before you heat your stamped image if you don't like a placement, especially when you are creating a background. It truly is as simple as brushing away the embossing powder to remove a mistake. I also wipe the embossing ink from my paper, especially when I want to add more heat embossed images. I dab up the ink because spreading the embossing powder over the area that is brushed away will cause the powder to stick again if the ink isn't removed. I've made that mistake a few times!"
Robin reminds us that mistakes can be a welcomed change in direction. The pocket card she created was a perfect addition to this page. We love that she carried the elements over to her journaling card as well! Next, I'm sharing a couple of simple ways to incorporate stamping in your Memory Planner.
As I mentioned before, I truly love the versatility of stamps and the joy I feel using them. Yes, they can get a little messy, but stamping always makes me feel like a kid again by letting go of expectations and just have fun!
I like to stick to three colors and evenly disperse the stamping around the page with those colors. Here, you can see that I used the three colors to create a pattern with the snowflakes. To make the title in the center stand out, I used black ink and stamped directly over the snowflakes.
The falling snowflake is a great example of a happy accident. I accidently transferred ink to the page when I made the washi mask for the stamped images on the Saturday box. It was noticeable and hard to cover up, so I decided to go with it! I used several of the snowflakes from both stamp sets and started stamping away! I don't mind having large, stamped designs on memory planner pages because you can always write over the stamped image if you need to. In the end, I really like how it turned out!
For my weekly spreads, I like to use stamps to create my own decorative boxes and journaling spots. The scale of these stamps makes it easy to create little designs or use the icons as bullet points. I repeated the tree bullet point idea on my monthly page as well. Using the "Winter Magic" stamp as my title, I can list the highlights of the month in the sidebar. Make sure to check out my YouTube Channel for a stamping process video.
How are you using the Cranberry Rose Memory Keeping Stamps to document your December? We would love to see what you are making! Show us what you have created by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media or posting to the Cocoa Daisy Fan Page.
