Tai Cortes: 6x8 Pocket Page

Hello, my crafty friends! It's Tai, and I have a 6x8 pocket page layout using the Chapters Scrapbooking Kit along with the Chapters Pocket Card Add-on. This month’s collection could not be any more perfect for a girl like me. I am a very avid reader and read tons of books, especially from the library. The illustrations on these cards with the whimsical characters are wonderful.

I first selected the 4x6 pocket card with the full tree scene with a little bear reading that said, ‘Fall into a good book.’ Everything else I selected had to go with this card first. I usually select a journaling card and then either a sentiment card or a patterned one to balance out my layout. In this project, I selected another sentiment card.

On the opposite side, I could have printed out a few different photos of me reading on my sofa or listening to one in my car at size 3x4 or 4x6. Those ideas I may use on a future project. But I scrolled my camera roll and remembered I snapped this photo recently of me browsing books at the library. The color of my dress worked perfectly. I printed out my photo at 7 inches X 8.25 inches so it fit outside the page protector in my 6x8 album.

To add some embellishments to my photo, I cut out letters from a patterned paper from the scrapbooking kit. I used the ‘Jane’ alpha die set from Elle’s Studio and cut out ‘It's in a book’ to go along the vertical side of my photo. It worked out well because it was ‘negative’ space in the photo. The letters were a little lost in the busy photo, so I fixed that with a narrow piece of vellum. The vellum helped make the letters stand out against the background of my photo. I will journal on clear sticker paper and adhere it to my card. I added a bit of washi tape to the cards, and that completed my double-page layout. I love the colors and the whimsical characters on the cards. It turned out amazing.
