One Scrapbook Paper, Two Ways: Into the Blue Collection
Hello, friends!
It's amazing how one 12x12 paper can be the foundation for two totally unique and gorgeous designs. Traci and Tai started with the same paper and put their own personal spin on it and we love how each spread turned out!
Traci Reed: Little Mermaid Moment
I returned from Hawaii with these photos of my husband having a “Little Mermaid Moment” and I just knew that I HAD to use the stunning 12x12 Into the Blue paper from the Into The Blue 12x12 Scrapbooking Kit to Scrap the story!
I didn’t want to go completely straightforward with it though; I wanted to add a little bit of masculinity to the page, so I decided to cut the paper into two pieces by sketching a “wavelike” arc through the middle of the page (being careful to make sure I didn’t cut through either mermaid) and added two more waves of paper in the middle using the yellow and palm tree patterned papers.
This also had the bonus of giving me a place to put all three photos in interesting way, tucked into the “waves!”
After that, it was a matter of making sure my large title was front and center and then tucking bits and bobs behind photos and into the waves with the photos.
The last thing I wanted to do was make sure that the design felt cohesive, so I added to the design on the mermaid paper with rub-ons from the Into The Blue 12x12 Scrapbooking Kit so that it reached the top of the wave and connected the placement of the photos to the design on the bottom of the page. I love adding to papers like these and making them my own!
Taina Cortes: Ready for Summer
Who is ready for summer? This Into The Blue 12x12 Scrapbooking Kit is perfect for your summer stories at the beach. The 12x12 patterned papers in this collection are absolutely beautiful and this one in particular with the beautiful mermaid illustrations is stunning. I had to use it in my first project with the Into The Blue 12x12 Scrapbooking Kit with 12x12 paper add-on.
Scrolling through my camera roll, I decided on pictures of us at the beach with my mom and sister from a few years ago. Beach photos would work perfectly for this theme. I cut each photo into a 4-inch circle and matted them on a 4.25-inch circle to have a green border around each one. Arrange how you would like them, but I decided on a cascade of overlapping circles. To compliment this layout I used all of the circle-shaped embellishments available in the kit and started tucking them all around the photos.
I even cut out a journal card with a 3-inch punch to have another embellishment for the page, ‘Life is a beach, enjoy the waves.’ I wanted to have the cluster of circles not touching the mermaids on this page, they are simply too beautiful to cover up. Once all these pieces were adhered to the page, I needed to decide on my title. I could have lined it up along with the bottom edge but decided curving along the circles made it more interesting. ‘Life is Good’ was also a sentiment in the stamp set, so it was perfect to accompany my 12x12 scrapbook layout.
I love how it turned out and will save my second mermaid paper for another summer layout for this year.
