Mixing Up the Media With Audrey and Evy
Christine likes to add stencils, paints, and inks to the Memory Keeping kits so you can try something new. Our design team tested out a few new products this month and here are the results.
Audrey Medd starts off today's post with the cutest of foxes!
"Our assignment for this post was mixed media. In case you don't know, by definition, mixed media means more than one medium (i.e. materials). I am so totally a mixed media artist and was purely delighted to embrace this assignment. I used a lot of different mediums in my layout here, so let's dig in and examine a few:
(1) The Serengeti kits are packed with so many awesome mixed media mediums this month. I made tiny hearts using the Nuvo drops found in the Classified Memory Keeping kit. It's super easy, just place two same size and thickness dots together and then use a paper piercer to drag the dots together in a heart shape. (2) Stitching on layouts is a great way to add some texture. I ripped one sheet of paper up and placed the ripped pieces in a line down the page. I then ran it a few times back and forth through my sewing machine. It's small but pulls the layout together.
I am absolutely loving the metallic ink and pattern stamps in the kits this month. I used both inks and scattered the Serengeti pattern stamps around the page. I stamped until there was no ink left, to get different shades of the ink throughout the page. I really love how this layout came together. How do you use different mediums in your layout?"
We love the results you got with the Memory Keeping products Audrey and what a fun day to document! A trip to the zoo was the perfect thing to capture with our Serengeti Collection!
Evy Schmidtke was still waiting for her Serengeti kit to arrive in Italy, so she's used the May Tulip Time Collection for her mixed media creation. You can still get the brightly colored tickets she used if you order the Classified: Memory Keeping Edition kit.
Finally, a torn paper from the May Tulip Time Traveler's Notebook kit (still available in the store), 4 photos, 2 puffy stickers, and a few die cuts.
I completed with the date and a short caption.

This time I am surprising you with a different project than usual in my simple dori! I am not a mixed media expert, on the contrary, but I like to experiment. So I created a background with black gelato (from Faber Castell) and a damp sponge. I used the stencil, which I love, for the butterflies using a yellow paste.
