Tai Cortes: Junk Journaling with the Moss & Mirth Simple Daisy Notebook

Hello crafty friends! It’s Tai and I have a fun junk journal type project for you. Junk journaling seems to be all the rage lately. And I have to admit I am here for it. I love how so many young people have picked it up and are memory keeping in this way. I follow so many creators who post about their junk journal spreads. So what I did was collect the ephemera of my day and added it to my Moss & Mirth Simple Daisy Notebook add on and used the stickers from the Moss & Mirth Journaling Kit and Moss & Mirth Scrapbooking Kit.

So I selected a patterned paper in the insert to start with. Any of them could work well with this type of journaling and memory keeping. It truly reminds of ‘Smash Books’. Who remember Smash Books? The original junk journal. Anyways, my day included taking clothes to the consignment shop, thrifting for my daughter, eating peanut butter crackers and going to whole foods for groceries and a slice of pizza. I kept all the receipts and took a photo and cut the packaging from my snack. I had all the stickers, washi, stamp and puffy stickers ready by my side to create with.

I started with adding the full sheet of washi tape to the opposite side for added interest. I loved the decorative detail for the background. I put one receipt per side and then just layered all the item. Once I had a general idea of the layout I was then able to go in with Rub- Ons from the Moss & Mirth Scrapbooking Kit along the edges and on top of the receipt paper. I enjoy the puffy mushroom stickers and sprinkled a few of those around the page as well. The cracker packaging images are my favorite part of the spread. They are big and bold. I was able to also add the stamp prompt for my journaling and repeat stamped the tiny mushroom around the pages. The last details were washi tape along the top of receipts and price tags. I enjoyed this junk journal spread in my Moss & Mirth Simple Daisy Notebook and will be continuing this style of memory keeping.

I highly recommend saving your day’s ephemera throughout your day and give junk journaling a try.
