Journal Cover with Summer Avenue Collection
Hello, friends!

Be inspired by the illustrations in the Summer Avenue Collection to create covers for your journals.

Kim Oedekoven: Journal Cover with Summer Avenue Collection

I was completely pulled in by the doors, windows, and archways throughout the Summer Avenue Collection, especially one postcard that sparked the whole idea of creating an architectural door cover for my June insert.

One of my favorite parts of the Summer Avenue Stationery Kit is how versatile the specialty papers are. I used the map acetate overlay to create a base for the archway, which was constructed from the Creative Kit paper. Instead of placing the paper underneath the acetate like the 'door' color and 'blue window', I placed it on top so it would pop off the acetate visually.

Sometimes it's the details that are what is really the key to success. Not only did I outline each 'rock' to create a shadow, but I also used the PET Stickers from the Summer Avenue Stationery Kit around the edge to create a trailing vine around the doorframe.

To create a landing space on the backside, I took a piece of patterned paper and backed the frame. On top was my chance to put a sticky note or two, as well as a sticky back die cut to enjoy on the top! The Summer Avenue Stationery Kit really shines when you let yourself play a little and use the pieces in unexpected ways.
