Marsha Farris: Interactive Elements

Interactive elements are a great way to include extra photos or journaling on a project. They are also just plain fun!

To begin my layout, I selected a spread in the Daily Journal Simple Dori to use as a base for my design. I liked the camera image in the notebook and thought the colors matched well with my photo. I also selected a green patterned paper to include on one page of the layout. I love the oversized tags found in the Daily Journal Classified Memory Keeping Kit and knew I wanted to use one to make an interactive element. I trimmed the tag in half and added the top portion upside down at the top of the page. I created the title using a rub-on from the Daily Journal Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and a stamp from the Daily Journal Classified Memory Keeping Kit. I added more stamping with the stamp from the Daily Journal Modern Memory Keeping Kit and black and pink inks.
I created an interactive flip element with the bottom part of the tag by folding a piece of thin paper to create a hinge. I adhered the hinge to the tag and pocket card from the Daily Journal Modern Memory Keeping Kit. A label die cut added to the top of the flip was perfect for holding it in place.
For the other side of the layout, I embellished my photo with die cuts and a rub-on from the Daily Journal Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I added more stamping along the edges of the page with the Daily Journal Modern Memory Keeping Kit stamp and black ink. To complete the page, I stamped the word "snapshot" with the  Daily Journal Classified Memory Keeping Kit stamp and added the date with a Cocoa Daisy Roller Date Stamp.

I enjoyed making this fun, interactive Simple Dori spread using the Daily Journal Collection. See my process video for this layout here on Instagram! Happy creating!
