Inspired by with Doodles & Dashes II

Hello, friends!

Inspiration can be found anywhere! Using mood boards, sketches, or scraplifting designs from other creatives is a great way to spark your creativity.

Ashley Horton: Inspired by...Mood Boards!

It's always fun to look for inspiration, to give your creativity a boost. I used the November Doodles & Dashes II Mood Board as inspiration for my Traveler's Notebook layout. I really loved the flowers that were included on the Mood Board and wanted to incorporate them into my layout.
Since there are some gorgeous Fall colors in the Doodles & Dashes II Collection, I chose to document some pumpkin photos. I used the Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit and the Doodles & Dashes II Memory Keeping Sticker Kit for this layout. I started by punching out my photos with a 2.5-inch circle punch and then punched 2-inch and 1.5-inch circles from some of the patterned papers in the Kit. I placed all of the circles in a random pattern on my background paper.
I used the larger circles to bring in some flower embellishments that were inspired by the Mood Board. I placed three of the puffy sticker flowers in each of the 2-inch circles.
To finish the layout, I also added some of the die cuts, rub-ons, and a few stamped images. This was a fun layout, and I love how quickly it came together, with the inspiration from the Mood Board. Watch me work in this video!

Marsha Farris: Inspired by...12x 12 Layouts by Christine!

I chose to scraplift Christine’s layout created with the Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit titled “senior pics” and decided to use it as a sketch to inspire my page. The project was a 12x12 layout, but I converted it to a traveler’s notebook spread. I liked the horizontal design and thought it would work well for this format. I chose to document a photo of the pumpkins and mums on my front porch.
To begin the layout, I followed the sketch by trimming two patterned papers to span both pages. Next, I created the title using a stamp and puffy alpha stickers from the Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit. I added my photo and embellished the page with rub-ons and embossed puffy and chipboard stickers. I also added some stamped leaves with the Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit stamp and stamped the date with the roller date stamp from the Doodles & Dashes Classified: Memory Keeping Edition Kit.
For the other side of the spread, I selected a library pocket and card from the Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit and added them to the page. I also included the “packed by” card from the kit, punched a hole at the top, and added a bit of twine to it. I always save the cards that come in the kits and was excited to use one on my layout.
The library card and tag were perfect for adding my journaling and some stamping using the Doodles & Dashes II Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit and Doodles & Dashes II Modern Memory Keeping Kit kit stamps. To complete the spread, I added ink splatters using black and dusty rose inks. This project came together quickly, using Christine’s layout for inspiration! Happy creating!
