Hello! Today our design team is sharing various ways they incorporate vellum in their layouts. We have three designs to share today beginning with Melina’s TN pages. She tells us, “I love vellum! One way I love using it is with stamps. Stamping on vellum gives a crisp, clean, delicate look to any layout. The vellum in the Acorn Lane Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping kit was just too pretty to stamp on with its beautiful foiled leaves, so I used it behind the layered tag and journaling I made. I tore a scrap piece of vellum I had and placed it behind my picture, stamped it and added my other little embellishments to finish this spread. Nature’s autumn colors are the best!” Next we have a 12x12 layout from Audrey. “Nine years ago today, on a very chilly November day, 11.11.11, I married my soul mate. Each passing year, I choose one of my wedding photos to scrapbook. This year, the Flannel and Frost and the Acorn Lane collections from Cocoa Daisy were just perfect for this spread.” “I started with a white piece of cardstock and some mixed media paint splatter from my stash. I almost always like to start a layout with some sort of paint splatter. I used the paint splatter sparingly as my intention was to keep this layout light, to focus on my photo.” “I used vellum from both Acorn Lane and Flannel and Frost collections to accentuate my photo. The vellum that is layered behind my photo is from the Acorn Lane collection. The bright gold metallic of this vellum pairs beautifully with the yellow autumn hues of my photo. The leaves are from the Flannel and Frost collection. These leaves are perfect with the subject of my photo, the beautiful old cracked tree in the background (Hurricane Irene ravaged our area about a week or two before our wedding, hence the cracked tree).” “Finally, I added a few rub on leaves from the Acorn Lane collection. I purposefully cascaded them down the page as if they were falling. I also scattered some enamel dots from the Acorn Lane collection. I finished this layout with some journaling about our love 9 years later.” “I really love this layout. I think its my favorite one yet." Our final layout for today is from Rachel who tells us, “I am excited to share some fun with vellum today. For November, I’m using my simple dori for creative lists and art journaling. I love having this format to get creative, practice techniques and just play with all the beautiful kit products from the Acorn Lane kits. This spread is a play on the phrase “Cabin Fever” and my deep longing to be snuggled up in a cozy cabin in the woods right now. This month, we received vellum elements in both the pocket memory keeping and travelers notebook memory keeping kits. In the travelers notebook memory keeping kit, we received a beautiful vellum sheet with a delicate leaf design, perfectly sized for the simple dori. In the pocket memory keeping kit, we received several pocket card size vellum elements. I incorporated both types in this spread, so lets take a look! One of my favorite ways to use vellum is to mute the colors and pattern behind the vellum. I loved the chevron pattern in the simple dori, but I wanted the colors to be more muted. Using the vellum as an overlay over the bold pattern helps to mute the colors and provides some wonderful texture. On the vellum, I created a grid of images that together make a cozy, fall cabin mood board. I found these images through Unsplash, an app and website where images are free to download and use. Another great resource for beautiful images are magazines like the image I used on the left page. Vellum makes for a wonderful layering elements as well. Inside the photo pocket, I added a pocket card with a few more photos and a little bit of journaling. I trimmed one of the vellum pocket cards add layered it behind the cabin photo. A subtle addition, but I love how it gives dimension to the journal cards. On the other side, I used a circle punch to grab the “Hello Autumn” from on the vellum cards and stabled it directly to the photo. Again, it is a subtle addition but I love that the vellum sentiment feels part of the photo.“ We hope you are inspired to use the vellum items in your kits or from your stash in your layouts.
