Grid Designs with Lillian’s Garden Kits
Hello, friends!

Grids create an effective structure for memory-keeping projects. Stick to the grid or go beyond the edges. Either way, it is a fun design choice!

Traci Reed: Think OUTSIDE the Grid with this Fun Grid Design

https://youtu.be/jBg2jOowZZE   When people think of grid designs, they often assume you have to use a bunch of equally sized paper pieces to have a ‚Äútrue grid‚Äù but I turned that idea on its head with my layout using the Lillian's Garden Modern Memory Keeping Kit and Lillian's Garden Traveler‚Äôs Notebook Memory Keeping Kit! I started my design with the placement of my photo and journal card in opposite corners and then slowly started forming a grid not with paper but with various die cuts from the Lillian's Garden Modern Memory Keeping Kit and Lillian's Garden Traveler‚Äôs Notebook Memory Keeping Kit.     The easiest way to start was with the labels and tags that had straight edges, which I placed on both sides of my spread, and then I started working on the scallops and various chipboard shapes like the banner pieces and clouds. Pro tip: the pieces don‚Äôt have to line up perfectly, but what you want to make sure you do have aligned are the outside edges of the grid and the spacing between grid pieces. This will lend to a nice clean look even with differently-shaped pieces making up your grid.     Lastly, I filled in spaces where I couldn‚Äôt find a suitable die cut or chipboard piece from the Lillian's Garden Modern Memory Keeping Kit and Lillian's Garden Traveler‚Äôs Notebook Memory Keeping Kit with paper blocks I cut down from my scraps from a previous layout. I made sure to ink the edges as well to give them a little pop.     Lastly, grid designs can be somewhat boring if you just let the grid stand on its own (at least to me) so I always like to ‚Äúbreak‚Äù the grid by using icons and other shapes to overlap different areas of the grid. To do this, I used the stitching rub-ons from the Lillian's Garden Modern Memory Keeping Kit, as well as hexagon-shaped die cuts and puffy stickers from both the Lillian's Garden Traveler‚Äôs Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I finished it off with some of the florals and my layout was done!
