Foundation Pages using the Snow Day Society Kits
Hello, friends!
Foundation pages are one of my favorite parts of preparing for December Daily — they’re quick to make, endlessly customizable, and give you a creative head start before the busy holiday season kicks in.

 Traci Reed: Foundation Pages using the Snow Day Society Kits

Today, I’m sharing a fun pocket page idea using just one 12x12" sheet and one matching 6x8.5" sheet from the Cocoa Daisy Snow Day Society collection. This design features a nearly invisible pocket that blends perfectly into the background pattern. It’s an elegant way to add extra journaling cards, tags, or photos without disrupting the flow of your layout — and it looks extra satisfying when the stripes or pattern line up just right.
What You’ll Need
* One 12x12” patterned paper from the Snow Day Society Paper Add-On
* One 6x8.5” paper with the same pattern from the Snow Day Society Scrapbook Kit
* Trimmer
* Scoring board or bone folder
* Adhesive
* Circle punch (optional)

Start by cutting your 12x12" paper down to 7x8.5". This size fits perfectly into most December Daily–style albums while leaving a bit of room along the side for binder holes. Punch holes along the left edge so it’s ready to go into your album. This piece will be the background for your pocket.

Next, grab the matching 6x8.5" paper from your Snow Day Society Scrapbook Kit and cut it down to 6x7". Then, score ½" in from the left, right, and bottom edges. These score lines will become your fold-over flaps for creating the pocket.

Using your scissors, snip each bottom corner diagonally where the score lines intersect — this reduces bulk and helps the pocket fold cleanly.

Fold along each score line toward the back of the pocket. Add adhesive to the flaps and carefully position the pocket on the base page so that the pattern aligns perfectly with the stripes or design on the background.

When done right, the pocket almost disappears into the page! Your finished pocket will measure 5x6.5", just the right size to hold tags, journaling cards, or photos. (Optional: Use a circle punch to cut a small notch at the top of the pocket for easy access and an extra finished look.)

Use other coordinating papers from the Snow Day Society Scrapbook Kit to create a few tags up to 4.75x7". I like to vary the widths of my tags so that when they’re tucked into the pocket, you get a nice layered effect peeking out from the top. You can add ribbons, eyelets, or even small tabs to make pulling them out easier. Each tag is a perfect spot for extra journaling, small photos, or embellishments that tell a deeper part of your December story.

Once your pocket and tags are ready, you can embellish the page further — or keep it simple and let that seamless pattern do the talking. I love the clean, camouflaged effect of this layout, especially for early foundation pages when I want to set a cohesive tone for the month.

This simple pocket technique is a great way to stretch your patterned papers and add hidden storytelling space to your album. Plus, it’s quick, easy, and oh-so-satisfying when that pattern lines up perfectly.
