Traci Reed: Focal Points + Flutterby 12x12 Papers!

One of my favorite ways to make a scrapbook page feel dynamic and full of energy is by creating an intentional focal point—and in this layout, that center “gap” does all the heavy lifting. I tore two different 12x12 patterned papers from the Flutterby 12x12 Kaper Add-on Kit and layered them to frame the center of the page. That reveal effect draws your eye straight to the photo, giving the page a playful, dimensional look that mirrors the vibrant colors of the Flutterby Scrapbooking Kit.

The rest of the page came together by mixing textures and layers. I used two journal cards from the Flutterby Scrapbooking Kit: one bold and graphic to add a strong title (“Do More of Your Favorite Things”), and the second tucked beneath the photo for a hint of storytelling detail. The balance between the structured design of the cards and the softness of the torn paper adds contrast and keeps things interesting.

Black floral rub-ons from the Flutterby Scrapbooking Kit are tucked in throughout the page, layered beneath and around the vellum butterflies and florals. I love how the rub-ons anchor the page with just a touch of grunge and detail, while the vellum die cuts float above everything else, giving the collection its fluttery, whimsical vibe.

This layout came together quickly once I committed to that central tear, and it’s a great reminder that even bold design choices can still leave room for subtle storytelling. Plus, I’ll never say no to a good excuse to play with all the butterflies.
