Express Your Feelings of Wanderlust with Cocoa Daisy Kits
Hello, Friends! Wanderlust. If you have never experienced to urge to wander, travel, and roam the world (or outside your home), you might have felt this way over that last year. Even if you weren't a big traveler before, a worldwide stay home order in 2020 made many people miss trips to nearby places. To honor the wanderlust many of us feel, and some of us for the first time, we asked our Creative Team to reflect on their own feelings of wanderlust. Let's see what they created.
What better way to document Wanderlust than with a creative bucket list as Odessa demonstrates.
"This time of year I have major wanderlust! Our first camping trip has me all ready for everything summer!! So, of course, I had to make a list! I used the My Escape Collection to make a list of summer musts.
I started with the fun rainbow stripe paper from the My Escape Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I love a good splash of colour. I layered the vellum letters that spell out “adventure” on top and adhered them with some rainbow staples. It’s a great splashy page to go with my list. In the middle of the page, I used one of the chipboard stickers from the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. It’s a nice little touch.
The other side is a little busy and a lot of fun. I’m still obsessed with the alpha stamp from the Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit so I used that for a list title with a die-cut from the kit on top. Then I used various number stickers and die cuts as well as alpha stickers, all from the My Escape Memory Keeping Sticker Kit, to number my list. I filled it in with all my summer musts this year using pen, stickers, stamps, die cuts, and more. For most of the list items, I create a focal point with labels, alpha stickers, and so on to bring attention to the most important part and then worked around it. It’s a little chaotic but that’s how my lists roll! This list feels like the start of a summer fun album!"
Maybe you are like Audrey and have that feeling of wanderlust for places you have already visited.
"Where do you really want to go? I want to go back to Mexico to see my favorite band, Wilco... alas, someday... I can't go in 2022, but I can dream and the My Escape Collection is perfect to document my wanderlust.
This layout is fairly simple, I started by painting a yellow background with some paint from my stash and backing a photo of my last trip to Mexico with some of the beautiful papers from the My Escape Modern Memory Keeping Kit. .
After I was done, I sewed the vellum word ADVENTURE from the My Escape Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit in a curvy pattern in the middle of the page. I love how this word provides a fun pop to this simple layout.
Finally, I embellished the page by running die cuts, chipboard, wood veneer, and rub-ons from the Modern Memory Keeping Kit in a line down the page. I journaled with my absolutely favorite pen from the My Escape Planner Kit and scattered some enamel dots around the page. Cheers friends!"
Jill satisfies her wanderlust by documenting great vacation moments from years past. "When I saw the papers in the Wisteria Lane Collection, I knew I wanted to use them to tell the story of visiting the Chihuly museum of glass art in St. Petersburg, Florida, with my boyfriend a few years ago. The stamp set's "best day ever" really fit this page because it was a super happy day, so much fun to look back on! I wanted to convey this delight with plenty of small embellishments and confetti of glitter dots and sequins. The soft yet colorful designs seemed a perfect backdrop for the vibrant colors in the photos. I also knew that I wanted to pick up the black in the photos with the You + Me = Good Times chipboard. This sentiment epitomizes what I write in my journaling about this trip, how much we enjoy exploring museums together when traveling. I pulled out the red in the photos with puffy alpha stickers from an earlier kit and the travel die cuts I had left from last month's My Escape Collection. The cute little cameras helped me tell the story of just how much we enjoyed snapping photos of Chihuly's vibrant glass sculptures. From the puffy white words, I chose "trip" and the three hearts, which I nestled in my embellishment clusters. The washi tape from the Wisteria Lane Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit was also the perfect way to ground each of these areas and build in additional touches of color. If you're not traveling yet this summer, you can satisfy your wanderlust as I did here by documenting a favorite vacation day from the past!"
Don't let the wanderlust get you down. Instead, try expressing it in a similar way that Odessa, Audrey or Jill have here.
