Setting goals and tracking habits in your planner
2021... How did we even get here?  I feel like it was just last week I was typing up my very first post as a design team member for January 2020.  Yet here we are. ...
Sorry, looks like we don't have enough of this product.

"As you know, it’s a new year and that means new books to read. In this case, I’ll be reading aloud a ton to my kiddos. Not sure if this happens to you but deciding which book to read next is always a struggle, especially when there are so many options. I found this photo from one of our many “tea time’s” and made a 12x12 layout to help keep us on track.
Now that you know the backstory let’s talk about design! I used the numbered rainbow stripe 3x4 card from the New Chapter Modern Memory Keeping Kit on the right side as my jumping off point and inspiration.
On the left side, I took a mini butterfly punch and set to work punching the multi-colored patterned paper from the New Chapter Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to get a rainbow effect in a less structured, more free-form way. I love the symbolism of new life that butterflies bring into this layout for a new year.
Then I brought in the pens (anyone else collect pens?). I love that there is so much going on in this layout yet the color coordination helps me pretend I’m a bit organized-ha! Will you be making a book list of “to read” ‘s this year? Don’t forget to make a hot cup of something; I promise it makes all the difference!"
We love how the elements on the left side of the photo mimic the rainbow stripes on the pocket card from the right side of the photo. Carol maintained plenty of whitespace in her design, creating an airy feel to her colorful page.
April is no stranger to rainbow spreads and shares with us her process for this design.
"I immediately squealed when I saw the rainbow color scheme in the New Chapter Collection. To create this layout, I knew that I wanted to use the scribble stamps layered with Mildliner dots and a shadow of watercolor. I used a few stickers (and hearts) and placed them with their coordinating color to finish off the page decoration.
I love using black and white photos when the embellishments are colorful. It really makes everything on the page pop. I also included a bit of vellum from the New Chapter Traveler’s Notebook Memory Keeping Kit behind the photo and more neutral embellishments directly on the photo. This page has a little bit of everything: stamping, stickers, and letters.
I really liked using the new 6x8 piece of white card stock, a new edition to the New Chapter Modern Memory Keeping Kit. With the 6x8 white cardstock, I can punch holes in the pages that have layered embellishments and still use page protectors for more simple spreads. I just love this kit so much." If you follow April on Instagram, then you know she is the queen of creating a beautiful ROYGBIV spread. We love how April used the same concept from her planner spreads and adapted it to create this whimsical rainbow spread.
We hope you are inspired to fill your memory keeping pages with all the colors of the rainbow found in the New Chapter Collection! Be sure to share your creations with us by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media or posting to the Cocoa Daisy Fan Page.
