Creative Ways to Incorporate Mixed Media in Your Layouts
Happy Friday Cocoa Daisy Friends! Do you use mixed media in your memory keeping layouts? We have some great examples from our design team to share with you today. Let's begin with a layout created by Korrie-ann. "I am really enjoying mixed media at the moment, I have been experimenting with the Dina Wakley Peacock acrylic paint that came in the past To the Sea Traveler's Notebook kit." "Taking my stencil I have added texture to my page using modelling paste but you can also create the same effect with the acrylic paint. The stencil reminded me of the base of the thistle in my photographs." "My main focal point is my photographs and I have built up the layers using the papers, vellum sheet and diecuts from the memory keeping kits and using the die cuts to balance my page diagonally." "I had offcuts of the vellum left so I used them with some more die cuts to create my clusters in the corners. I used the stamps to finish off my page, oh and I could resist adding the hummingbird from the puffy sticker sheet." Creating texture with a stencil and modeling paste is a great way to incorporate some mixed media in your layouts. We love the simplicity of this technique and the result is so pretty in Korrie-ann's layout. Next we have a mixed media design from Evy. "In this period I am passionate about mixed media and I am taking courses and videos online." "In this project I wanted to remember these first steps in this new technique. I printed the screenshots and the caption of a beautiful Vicki Boutin course that I followed and that gave me many ideas." "For the background I added water to the gelatos and simply created lines with a watercolor effect." "I then created a maxi drops effect, always shaded with gelatos on a patterned paper that I then cut and distressed. Just a title and a small caption and it's done!" What an adorable documentation idea and so beautifully executed. We love Evy's background using the Gelatos on the distressed patterned paper from the kits. We'd love to see what you are making with our kits and encourage you to share with us on our private facebook group or by tagging @cocoa_daisy on social media. Have a wonderful week! ~Robin
