Linda Jordan: Create a Background with Vellum Snowflakes!
The cozy winter colors of the Cedar and Snow Collection were perfect for documenting those winter memories. I am working on filling in 2020 in my daughter's album, and in December 2020, we had a particularly huge snowstorm that I wanted to document. To create my background paper, I took the vellum snowflakes from the Cedar and Snow Scrapbooking Kit and adhered them in a random pattern on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white cardstock.
I chose two photos to document the story. I printed them as 4x4 squares and then backed them on one of the patterned papers in the Cedar and Snow Scrapbooking Kit. I used the washi tape + chipboard from the kit to add a few additional embellishments.
To add a little interest to my background, I used my sewing machine to stitch down each of the snowflakes. Before sewing them, I adhered them with just a little rolling adhesive so they would stay in place. Then, I used white thread, so there would be just a little texture to the spread, without any additional color.
The Cedar and Snow Pocket Card Add-on is great for more than just pocket pages; they also work to add journaling to a traditional spread such as this one! I used the "snow day" card and wrote out my memories of this day. To finish off the spread, I used a rolling date stamp to add the date. I love how this one came together!
