TN Tuesday: Ways to Embrace Full Page Photos in Your Traveler's Notebook
Hello friends! It's TN Tuesday today, which means today's blog post is devoted to our Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook and ideas to document your stories within it's lovely pages. The DT was challenged to create a layout for this post that includes a full page photo and we're sure you are going to love their designs. Let's jump in and see what Rachel crafted for us. "The August Backyard Blooms is kit is filled with the most gorgeous florals and garden elements, but, it also has some amazing summer elements, too! For this spread, I am documenting a (Monday) trip to the beach and was excited to use this kit to do so! When I found the “Beach Time” and “Document Today” pocket cards, I knew I wanted to use both cards as the focus for the page opposite the full page photo. To anchor the pocket cards to the page, I stamped along the edge of the page with one stamp in multiple colors. Next to the stamping, I added a stripe of washi and adhered my pocket cards so that the washi peaked out from under the cards." "I loved the “Smile.Sunshine.Sand.Summer” stamp, but didn’t need the 'smile' part of the stamp. When stamping, I simply created a mask to cover the “smile” and stamped the rest of the sentiment onto the pocket card." "Since this moment actually happened on a Monday, I knew I had to incorporate that 'less Monday, more summer' stamp. Eventually, I settled on stamping it under the Beach Time script to make a secondary title for this layout." "Finally, I added a few word embellishments to the bottom of the photo. Clearly, I have a thing for word art in the form of strips, stamps and script titles! If you’d like to see how I put this spread together, head to my YouTube channel for my process video!" Such a fun layout and the mood created by Rachel's photo is reflected in her embellishments and stamping. And we love Rachel's idea with the washi tape as a backdrop for her stamping. Next we have a birthday story with the Backyard Blooms Simple Dori TN from Melina. "The middle of my Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook holds the center of attention in our house during the month of August. It’s our daughter’s birthday month. I love that this picture of her matched really well with the patterned paper already in the TN." "I started by printing my pic at about 4”x8” and then matting that with some white card stock. I punched heart shapes from the vellum and kit papers. I wanted a sewn element so I added hand stitching to each after layering the hearts. These cuties added the perfect touch to my embellishment clusters." "I added a phrase sticker to the label in the top corner and adhered it with pop dots. I stamped my title on white card stock and popped it up on top of another punched piece of the kit papers." "My journaling is done with my typewriter. I then added some of the paper behind, some washi at the bottom and the rest of the vellum before finishing up this journaling spot. I love making travelers notebook layouts with larger pictures!"  Melina's layout is gorgeous and her embellishment clusters are delightful. The washi border on the bottom of her journaling is clever and adds the perfect finishing touch. To see a video of how this layout came together click here.
