Natasha Pytlik: 6 Ways to Use Rub-ons

Adding layers and depth to my projects is one of my favorite elements of my design. When I’m working in a traveler‘s notebook or a life-crafted album I am looking for ways to add the visual interest of layers but without adding too much bulk so I can get as many memories as possible in one album or notebook. This is where rub-ons come in and work so beautifully.
Using the Cocoa Daisy rub-ons from the Wayfarer Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, I used them in six different ways, from pattern papers as well as my embellishments and even right onto my pocket pages. Catch my video as I walk you through a few of my favorite tips and tricks along with seeing these six ways in action.
Rub-ons can be a bit intimidating but with practice and seeing a few examples, I am convinced you will be ready to give them a go on your projects today.

Carol Weatherspoon: Avoid Bulk with Rub-Ons

I absolutely LOVE rub-ons! It's one of those embellishments that look beautiful without adding dimension to your project.
I enjoy working in my Wayfarer Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, and I really don't want them to get too bulky so rub-ons are a favorite go-to for me.
I used the rub-ons from the kit to add to one of the photos on the left side of the spread as well as a little paint splatter towards the bottom right of that same page. It just adds a little somethin' somethin' to the page.
I also love the beautiful patterned paper included in this kit and that huge Happiness Comes in Waves sentiment is just gorgeous. I didn't want to add too much here because I wanted the focus to be the sentiment, so I added the compass rub-on to the bottom right as well as the cute little birds to the top. To finish off this side of the spread, I printed the date and location using my printer and added a couple of images from the Wayfarer July stamp set to the bottom left. Simple yet elegant.
If you haven't worked with rub-ons in the past, I highly recommend you give it a try. But be warned...they are addictive!

Rachel Newman: Rub-ons in Embellishment Clusters

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBQKI9Dw0FM[/embed] When there are rub-ons in a collection, I immediately put them to work! I tried to use them all up, because it is better to have them on a page, than collecting dust in my craft space. Plus, the longer they go unused, the less effective they are ( think: expiration date). My goal was to use as many of the rub-ons from the Wayfarer Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit in one crafty session. I utilized them to create clear page markers in my B6 Rings Setup and prepared a memory bullet journal page by making three clusters with rub-ons and stamps. [gallery size="full" ids="840183,840184,840185"]   You can always put rub-ons directly onto clear acetate or laminate sheets. I like to keep them protected by rubbing them onto the inside of the laminate sheet. This prevents any image transfer that could happen inside your planner. [gallery size="full" ids="840188,840187,840186"] Rub-ons and stamps are a wonderful pairing. A quick tip: it's best to avoid stamping directly on the rub-on and the ink might smear. To prevent this, stamp on the paper before including the rub-on image, or stamp onto clear sticker paper and adhere on top of the rub-on. Do you love rub-ons too?
