Using Sketches to Inspire Your Memory Keeping

Using Sketches to Inspire Your Memory Keeping
Hello, Friends! Imagine you are sitting down to work on a memory keeping spread. You printed your photos and gathered all your supplies. But as you look at the blank page, you realize that you are missing something- your inspiration! I know I have felt this way before and rather than get discouraged, I seek ideas from other creatives. Christine, the owner of Cocoa Daisy, knows that having a little inspiration each month can help combat our blank page paralysis. In every Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, she provides an Instruction Sheet with a few completed spreads using products from the kit. I love receiving the instruction sheet each month and I even have them all together in a notebook. When I'm feeling stuck, I know right where to look! We asked a few of the design team members to use one of the sketches to inspiring their layout today. One of the best parts about "scraplifting" your fellow creatives is seeing how the sketch evolves with each new design. The sketches from the Cranberry Rose Instruction Sheet are easy to adapt to other formats, too! Today we'll see a "Christine inspired" 8.5x11 page and a Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook Spread. Let's see what Jennie created based on a traveler's notebook spread from Christine.

"I love using beautiful pages that others create as inspiration for my projects. It's an easy way to start a new project and this page was no different! I used one of Christine's TN pages as the inspiration for this page - you can see her fun layout here. You can also find a similar sketch on the Printable Instruction Sheet from the Cranberry Rose Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I didn't use a travelers notebook though, I went to an 8.5x11" layout instead.

CURR CHECK HIS OUTE cocoadaisy cocoa daisy jennie meganvey 2021 MEMORY KEEPER' I had to mimic that fun detail on the lower left page of Christine's project - but I used enamel dots and the drops included in the Cranberry Rose Classified: Memory Keeping Edition kit and I love how it turned out." And how darling is the swirl? Next, we have a traveler's notebook layout from Jil, inspired by a design element from the Cranberry Rose Instruction Sheet. Image may contain: text that says 'MY HEART IS FULL DOG EGOOD this rough little girl came surgery her three-part three what were imorads og she 've and this ther 07 2020 DEG helped, diffics diffic chall blessed with dogs, love deeperas Strenger bond cocoa daisy jil larson 2020 DESIGN TEAM' "I love the sketches and instruction Instruction Sheet from the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit because they are invariably beautiful and a great jumpstart for my own creativity. In the Instruction Sheet Christine created for the Cranberry Rose Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping kit, there are variations on designs composed of triangles. Image may contain: text that says 'GOOD 100 GOOD.DOG 06 this thr ugh little girl came han cocoa ♡ daisy jil larson 2020 DESIGN TEAM' As a fan of the patterned paper in the kits, I welcome any way to include lots of it, and happily punched squares in two sizes that I cut in half for a banner across the top of the spread and a border of tiny triangles under the photo of my dog. I also loved the inspiration for the title work that runs along the side of the photo. On the facing page, I used a die-cut phrase and a wood veneer snowflake to complete this page about my sweet little Hazel." No photo description available. Triangles are a fun design element but can be tricky to cut. We love JIl's tip of punching the paper into squares first and then trimmed in half. Using two different sizes of triangles is a great way to create visual interest with a repeated design element. Who and what inspires your memory keeping? If you need a little spark, you can always check out the Instruction Sheet from the Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. If you have a spread inspired by Christine, we would like to see it!
