Tips for Terrific Titles for your Memory Keeping Pages

Creating titles for your layouts can be its own form of creative expression. A simple spread can have a major impact with a well-designed title. In today's post, we are focusing on some tips and tricks to make your titles pop.
Evy always creates stunning titles for her Simple Dori Traveler Notebook pages.
"For me, there are 3 rules in a layout or project: photo, title, and caption. The caption is often hidden. I don't like to show my feelings in public. So I have photos and title left. I am not a qualified person to talk to you about photography (and it would be quite a long speech) but for titles, I can give you a lot of ideas because I love the versatility of a title. In my opinion, the title talks about us, about what a photo represents for us. And this is why I dedicate myself so much to titles in my projects.
Here's what I can recommend:
1- Play with different volumes and overlays, use stamps together with stickers, rub-ons with chipboards, or all together.
2- Decorate the title using stickers or stamps.
3- Try to mix the title's orientation with horizontal and vertical elements.
In this case, I mixed lettering using a stamp (from an older Cocoa Daisy kit) along with rub-on decorations from the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit (still available in the shop!). Then I added small stickers both vertically and horizontally. I added some enamel dots as highlights and volume.
The same title "tricks" can also be used with decorations! In fact, on the full-page photo, I mixed stickers, chipboards, and rub-ons. I also like the difference in coverage. Each material gives a different effect making even the simplest project spectacular.
Evy shared so many great ideas and a go-to process for creating titles. This is especially helpful for those of us who may not have much to journal about the spread. A thoughtful and well-designed title can speak for itself.
Casie used contrast to create a bold title in her layout.
"I like big alphas and I can’t lie! Seriously though the big alpha die cuts from the Tranquility Classified: Memory Keeping Kit are my favorite product this month. I love using them for the title of a spread. Their size just makes the title pop! I used them on the left side of my layout as the title “fancy coffee Friday” which is a new tradition I started, inspired by April Orr.
On the right side, I layered pattern papers as my base. I topped it with the sticker from my coffee, a few photos and stacked word strip die cuts. Fancy coffee Friday celebration!"
By using the black and white polka dot papers from the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, the grey stripe alpha die cuts really pop in contrast to the pattern paper.
Titles are not always necessary in a memory planning spread but can be a fun creative experiment. 
For this project, I wanted to challenge myself and make a title for each photo and accompanying story. I started by centering and staggering my photos to create space above and below to build my titles and caption. For several of the photos, I built a decorative "shelf" with the Tranquility Memory Keeping Stamps.
My favorite supplies for title-making are alpha stickers and stamps. For this spread, I used the puffy alpha stickers from the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, and alpha stickers from the Tranquility Daisy Add-On Sticker Kit, Tranquility Planner Add on Kit, and the Memory Keeping Sticker Kit (still available in the shop!). I love varying the fonts in my titles as I did for the "Crafty Zoom" title. I also changed the placement of the titles including below, adjacent, and directly on the photo. If you are stuck on a title, considering using the stamps to create it for you, as I did with the "Just Relax" title. 
Sometimes, a title needs a subtitle. I found the perfect subtitle for this story in the form of an adorable sticker.

For Thursday, I wanted to document our silly cats and obsession with sitting on my husband's lap when he is trying to use his laptop, hence the "Lay (Top) Cat" title. For Sunday, I knew I wanted the title to be "Sunday Funday" and used the stamp set from the Tranquility Planner Add on Kit, to do this. I used a masking technique and the "Sun" and "Fri" stamps to get the effect I was looking for. 
To create some continuity across the page and to avoid my handwriting visually competing with the titles I decided to type all my journaling. I love the look of the typewriter font in conjunction with all the different titles.
