Take it Off the Page for Extra Memory Keeping Fun.
Hello, friends!
In today's post, we are going off the page with flip-ups, layers, and pockets galore!
Natasha shares three ways to get off the memory-keeping page.
"For today’s project, I am showing a few ways you can take your layouts to the next level by designing “off the page.” I really enjoy incorporating flip-ups in my projects to add hidden journaling. Personally, I prefer to have no to minimal visible journaling with Traveler’s Notebook style layouts so flip-ups are a great way to still include my journaling. I thought for the longest time that flip-ups were complicated to create but actually, they are very easy!
I created a simple hinge by folding a piece of trimmed paper in half and adhering one side to the journal card in the pocket and the other side to the journal card that is flipping up, hanging outside of the pocket page to be able to access. So simple and I think so cute, especially when there are so many cute journal cards to choose from.
To take the “off the page” concept in another direction, I included many puffy stickers from the Afternoon Tea Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. I have them scattered throughout both sides of my layout to have that dimensional element balanced.
Lastly, one of the more subtle ways I’ve added this concept into my layout is by using stamping as a “layer” on top of patterned papers on the left-hand side of my layout. By using the frame stamp from the Afternoon Tea Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, I added more visual interest and depth to the page. Each technique is great as a stand-alone design feature or combined as I did here to mix and match."
Ashley is our newest Creative Team Member and shares a super cool pocket inside her memory planner. "I always find it fun to create interactive elements that I can use in my Memory Planner. Some days have more photos, more journaling...just more! So, I used the Afternoon Tea Modern Memory Keeping Kit as well as the Afternoon Tea Memory Keeping Sticker Kit to create a fun pocket that can hold photos and journaling. I used two of the patterned papers from the kit, to build my pocket. Since I use a Heidi Swapp Memory Planner, I know the spaces are always 2 in. x 6 in. I cut my papers to fit the space and then put it together with a fun see-through window and some stitching to create separate pockets. All of the embellishments from the Afternoon Tea Modern Memory Keeping Kit were perfect with a mix of stickers, to finish the look of my pocket! Check out this video to see my process!" "Creating interactive elements for my memory planner is always a fun way to add more photos. Here I created a flip-up and also a large envelope where I slipped some journaling and extra photos from spring break!
