Hello, friends!

The Serenity Planner Kit is great for planning but it is also great for scrapbooking! The small scale of the Serenity Simple Notebook reminds us that scrapbooking is not that serious, but a practice that can genuinely help us flex our creative muscles. 

 
Full disclosure. I haven’t created inside the Simple Notebook for a while. When I started, I found myself a little unsure of myself and almost gave up. Instead, I reminded myself that 1.) this is not that serious 2.) having the moment documented is better than not doing it due to perfectionism, and 3.) it’s ok to be a beginner (again). Creativity is a muscle and just like our other muscles it is strengthened with repetition, not magic (I wish!).

I chose a photo from a recent trip to Nikko, Japan. Of all the places we visited, Nikko was my favorite! I printed the photo to roughly 3.5 inches in width and backed it with pattern paper from the Serenity Planner Kit. I made sure to note our location using one of the stickers from the kit and embellished the photo's edges with gorgeous die-cuts. I even incorporated a tab to mark the date of the picture. 

It's nearly impossible to go to Japan and not go a bit sticker crazy. I purchased these two Kanaya Hotel stickers at the Traveler's Company store in Tokyo. Even though we didn't stay at this particular hotel, I thought it would be fun to add them to this spread about Nikko. I trimmed the stickers to look like they were layered beyond my title, which I used the Serenity Stamp and my hand-lettering to create. And, of course, more stickers and die-cuts from the Serenity Planner Kit. Putting this spread together felt like a creative puzzle and sticking with it led to a beautiful result. So if you are looking for a quick creative kickstart, give this format a shot!
