Hello there friends!
We often talk about the need to create a visual triangle in your layouts which draws the viewer's eye around the page. But on the blog today we are exploring memory keeping using the triangle shape as a design element. Creating layouts with a large triangle is a simple and classic way to incorporate this shape. Another way is to use multiple triangles with patterned paper, photos, or to create them as a background with mixed media. Today, our design team is sharing their ideas for using triangles in your memory keeping.
DT member Korrie-ann has created a beautiful layout in her Simple Dori Traveler's Notebook. "Tulip Time reminds me of my mums tapestry and quilts that she made growing up, she even owns the blue and white vases. I took the concept of the quilt when I created my triangle background as if it was patchwork."
"I had a vision in my head of what I wanted it too look like and I am so happy with the way it looks. I’ve never cut my photos into triangles before but it is very effective, I just had to be mindful of which part of the photograph would be cut off."
"I used 2 by 2 inch papers and photographs then just cut from corner to corner to create the triangles. I added some dimension to the page using the foam word stickers and the puffy stickers from the pocket memory keeping kit. The puffy sticker sheet contains the little diamonds and I just cut them in half to create more triangles. I then added a couple of the butterfly die cuts to my triangles."
"For my journaling I layered a pocket card with a few diecuts and attached it to the right hand page and finished it off with the flower die cut and arrow sticker on the card." Korrie-ann's quilt of triangles is beautiful and the grid is a perfect way to help with placement."
DT member Melina is next. "Hi everybody! Here’s a pocket page I made using triangles. This is not a shape I use a lot in my projects but I truly love how this turned out! I have a triangle punch in my stash (that’s actually a banner punch) and I was so excited that I didn’t have to cut straight angles! Ha!"
"First I got to work getting my triangles punched from the papers in the Serengeti Pocket Memory Keeping kit."
"Next I chose some 3x4 cards to go with my pictures and decided that library themed card was perfect to stamp on!"
"The labels from the die cut packs are a great way to add a simple title to you memory keeping projects without overwhelming the pictures."
"Lastly I added some epoxy dots. These have a glitter/shimmer type finish with no mess. I love them! A great little phrase sticker under my title and this layout is done!
It’s so easy when you have all the beautiful, coordinating things you need to complete your projects! Cocoa Daisy for the win!" Melina's mention of a triangle punch is a great tip for creating smaller versions of this shape. After seeing our DT's layouts, I've got some ideas that include stitching, of course. We hope you are inspired to try triangles in your memory keeping.
And as always, we'd truly love to see what you are making with our memory keeping and planner kits. Please tag @cocoa_daisy on social media or share with us in our Cocoa Daisy Fans facebook group.
Happy crafting and be well!
