Springtime Stories with Cocoa Daisy Memory Keeping Kits
Hello, Friends!
For the Northern Hemisphere, spring is (hopefully) in the air! While some areas of the United States are still experiencing snow, by and large spring has sprung and we couldn’t be happier about it! Today, we have three spring spreads in three different formats: the Simple Dori Traveler’s Notebook, a memory planner design, and a 12x12 layout. Our Memory Keeping Team demonstrates that the change of season deserves a space in our chosen style of documenting.
Evy is capturing all the springtime vibes in her Simple Dori Traveler Notebook.
“For me, spring means flowers! I love to photograph the awakening of nature during my walks and see the change day after day. In this case a beautiful tree full of wonderful flowers that blossomed overnight.
I chose to print a full-page photo and put just a couple of embellishments from the Poppy Fields Collection on top of the photo.
While on the right page I decided to follow the lines of the pattern to play with the title and caption. I mixed the puffy alphabet with rub-ons and stamps, added some enamel dots, chipboard arrows, stickers and the date.
I love that I got out of my comfort zone by mixing a vertical photo with a horizontal page and mixing the various embellishments from the latest kits. Aren't they perfectly coordinated?”
We love that Evy used the Treetop Canopy Simple Dori, with her Poppy Fields Collection stamps and embellishments. There is no rule saying you can’t mix and match your kits to suit your creative needs!
Casie is using her memory planner to document her springtime stories.
I wanted to highlight that and loved the day on one page notepad from the Tranquility Planner Add on Kit. That planner page combined with the wood chipboard “spring” from the Tranquility Classified: Memory Keeping Kit were my starting points.
From there I added the striped pattern paper to include all the beautiful greens and peaches from the Tranquility Travelers Notebook Memory Keeping Kit. Lastly, I topped off the page with a few embellishments and a funny black and white photo to document a great week of baseball!” The basic principles of a traditional 12x12 layout can be easily adapted for a memory planner. We love Casie’s use of the notepad in this spread. If you are a memory planner, the notepad is a great way to jot down a few moments from the day and referred back to once you are ready to work in your memory planner.
Audrey’s 12x12 layout has spring written all over it!
“Hello Spring!! What do you love most about spring? Me... the beautiful flowers in bright vibrant colors such as the daffodils pictured here in my photos.
In this layout, I had many shots of the same daffodil field from different angles. To start this 12x12 layout, I threw some paint splatter around and placed a piece of paper from the Poppy Fields Modern Memory Keeping Kit underneath and then clustered the photos in a pattern on the top of the paper. The background paper helps to break up the one dimension same pattern of the photos for a more cohesive design.
Next I added some embellishments in the top left and bottom right corners and just a few in the middle. I used the washi stickers from the Poppy Field Memory Keeping Sticker Kit, die cuts and chipboard shapes. Adding different textures and height gives the layout depth and dimension. I also balanced the layout by using the same shapes on the top and bottom.
I ended this layout with my journaling on the right, a title/description on the left, and a border around the edge using one of my most favorite Cocoa Daisy items, the pen from the Poppy Fields Main Planner Kit. I love how this layout welcomes spring.” We love Audrey’s decoratives clusters that embellish the spread, while still allowing the photographs to be the star of the show!
